On August 31, 2024, about 5:00 p.m., Patrol Deputy A. Gomez of the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, in the performance of his patrol duties responded to the residence of [100 BLOCK] Greenbay Drive to meet with the reporting parting [VICTIM #1] for a call of service regarding to an assault incident.
[VICTIM #1] advised that on this date about 10:00 a.m. while at her residence, her boyfriend Kaleb Daniel Cooks discharged his handgun at her as she walked to her vehicle. Ms. [VICTIM #1] advised that Mr. Cooks did this out of angry because she told him he needed to leave her residence. Ms. [VICTIM #1] advised that they got into her vehicle and Mr. Cooks sat in the rear seat behind her and held his handgun against her head. She advised that Mr. Cooks told her to take him to his mother’s residence in Chatsworth Georgia.
After dropping him off at the residence Ms. [VICTIM #1] returned home. Ms. [VICTIM #1] requested to have the incident documented by the agency for potential assistance in the matter. The case was left active with the discretion of the agency to determine what action, if any, is required.
