On 11 October 2024, at approximately 1310 hours, Whitfield County Communications Center (WCCC) dispatched Deputy Rice and Deputy Gomez to a 2 motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Riverbend Rd and Eastbrook Rd.
Upon arriving on scene, Deputy Rice noticed a greenish color Dodge Dakota and a white in color Chevrolet Cruze had collided in the middle of the intersection. Multiple groups of people stood on both corners of the intersection. Deputy Rice started directing traffic control while Deputy Gomez started identifying occupants. While directing traffic a witness, [WITNESS #1], stated she saw the whole thing and the green truck was at fault. Deputy Rice asked [WITNESS #1] to write down her contact information because she needed to leave the scene. During this [WITNESS #1] stated that the female driver operating the Dodge Dakota, Jennifer Craig, had got into a black Ford Edge suv and headed down Antioch Rd. Deputy Rice relayed the information to the WCCC.
Shortly after relaying the information to the WCCC, Capt. Pangle arrived on scene and headed down Antioch Rd looking for the black Ford Edge. Capt. Pangle identified the vehicle near Riverbend Rd and relayed that it appeared that a subject was about to exit the vehicle and flee. At that time, Deputy Gomez departed the motor vehicle accident scene to assist Capt. Pangle.
Deputy Rice was directing traffic at the intersection when Deputy Mdeiway and Deputy Centers arrived on scene. Deputy Centers took over traffic control so Deputy Rice could start conducting the accident investigation with the assistance of Deputy Mdeiway. During the course of the investigation Deputy Rice identified a 1999 Dodge Dakota Tag# [REDACTED], vehicle 1, operated by Jennifer Craig had made contact with a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze Tag#[REDACTED], vehicle 2, in an off centered head on position.
While Deputy Rice was conducting the accident investigation, Capt. Pangle and Deputy Gomez conducted a traffic stop on a black Ford Edge operated by Danny Hall. Other occupants of the vehicle were Patricia Frazier, Jennifer Craig, and Michael Hall. During the course of the traffic stop Deputy Gomez identified Michael Hall having an active warrant from Gordon County and Dalton Police Dept. Deputy Gomez asked Michael Hall if he was aware that he had an active warrant and Michael Hall answered yes. Deputy Gomez directed Michael Hall out of the vehicle and detained him. Once Michael Hall was detained and a pat down for weapons was conducted prior to placing him into the back of Deputy Gomez’s patrol vehicle.
Capt. Pangle asked for consent to search the vehicle from Danny Hall and Danny Hall consented. The 3 remaining occupants were directed out of the vehicle so a search could be conducted. Capt. Pangle and Deputy Winkler provided security while Deputy Gomez conducted the consent search. During the consent search Deputy Gomez located a orange plastic bag containing 6-7 white oval pills with IP 110 stamped on it in the pouch on the back of the drivers seat were Michael Hall was sitting. After researching the pills online, it was believed to be Hydrocodone. After the pills where placed on the hood of the patrol car, Deputy Gomez continued his consent search with negative findings. Deputy Gomez discussed the situation with Capt. Pangle and he directed Deputy Gomez to read Miranda Rights to Jennifer Craig. After advising Jennifer Craig of her rights she elected not to speak to anyone.
At that time Deputy Gomez went and read the Miranda Rights to Michael Hall and after advising Michael Hall of his rights, he also declined to speak to anyone. At that time Deputy Rice and Deputy Mdeiway arrived on scene. Deputy Rice was informed by Capt. Pangle that Jennifer Craig had declined to speak to anyone. Deputy Gomez and Capt. Pangle decided that since Michael Hall and Jennifer Craig were both within reasonable arms length and neither claiming possession of the pills, both would be charged with possession of a schedule 2 narcotic.
Deputy Rice placed Jennifer Craig in handcuffs, checking for fit and double locking them. Deputy Rice did a simple search prior to placing Jennifer into the back seat of the patrol vehicle.
Michael Hall and Jennifer Craig were both transported to the Whitfield County Detention Center without incident.
