Discretion is advised.]On April 6th, 2025, at approximately 0407, myself and Officer Warnix responded to 1306 Underwood St, in reference to a possible burglary in progress. Prior to our arrival, Whitfield County dispatch said that the caller heard a lot of loud banging and glass breaking, near room [REDACTED].Once on scene, myself and Officer Warnix parked on the west side on the north east building. The lower rooms are the 300 rooms and the upper level is the 400 rooms. We walked around the south side of the building and, once around the southeast corner, we located room [REDACTED], the room at the southeast corner. The door to the room had been forced open. Inside, the bed had been overturned, and there were several items thrown around the room. I also noticed blood on the mattress, near the window. The window was also broken out and the blinds were damaged. While standing at the door, I yelled “Dalton Police” several times. I did not see anyone inside. While standing near the door, myself and Officer Warnix heard muffled yelling. We began ing the area and located two males in the driveway of [1300 BLOCK] Underwood St. We ran towards the two males and as we got closer, we saw one male, later identified as [VICTIM #1], laying on his back, while another male, identified as Bernard Beck, on top of him. Bernard was on his knees, leaned over [VICTIM #1] and appeared to be grabbing at his mouth. We approached the males and gave Bernard verbal commands to put his hands up. He did so. We gave him commands to stand up and turn around. I gained control of Bernard’s hands and placed them behind his back. I placed him into handcuffs. I had the male sit down in the grass at the end of the driveway. While standing with Bernard, Officer Warnix began assessing [VICTIM #1]’s injuries.At this time, Officer Castillo arrived on scene. I had him stay with Bernard while I went to get Officer Warnix’s medical bag. I retrieved the bag and returned. Officer Warnix said that it appeared as though [VICTIM #1] had several small puncture wounds on his chest. He had severe injuries to his mouth had a significant amount of blood coming out of his mouth. We began covering his wounds until fire and EMS arrived on scene.During that time, Officer Garcia and Officer Miller arrived on scene. I told Officer Garcia to secure room [REDACTED] and had Officer Miller park his car in front of [1300 BLOCK] Underwood St. We secured Bernard in Officer Miller’s vehicle.EMS transported [VICTIM #1] to Hamilton Medical Center. Myself and other officers secured both room [REDACTED], and the scene in the driveway at [1300 BLOCK] Underwood St. They were turned over to CID.[End of Narrative].
