After viewing video footage in the Walmart’s Asset Protection office, it was found that Driver #1 left the scene of the accident after making contact with the driver side rear of Vehicle #2. Before vacating the premises, Driver #1 parked Vehicle #1 and walked over to Vehicle #2 to look over the damage. Driver #1 then made his way back to his vehicle, waited until Driver #2 returned and noticed the damage, then left the parking lot of Walmart.Driver #2 stated that after shopping in Walmart, she returned to her vehicle and noticed damage to the rear driver side of her vehicle. Damage to Vehicle #2 was functional.I then sent a picture of the vehicle that left the scene of the accident to patrol and due to heavy traffic presence, we were able to identify the driver. Act. Cpl Tankersley made contact with the vehicle shortly after Driver #1 left Walmart. Myself, Deputy Wright, and Ofc. Jackson then went en route to Mr. Reed’s (Offender/Arrested) address. After making contact with Mr. Reed, I then placed him in double locked handcuffs and searched him incident to arrest. I then placed Mr. Reed in the rear passenger side of my patrol vehicle, and transported him to the Wayne County Jail.
