Discretion is advised.]On 07/11/2025 Sergeant Hunt responded at approximately 1152 hours to North Main Street near its intersection of Pickard Drive for a two vehicle accident. Sergeant Hunt along with other responded Emergency Personnel arrived on scene of the accident. Sergeant Hunt observed a white in color Ford Ranger and Harley Davidson Road King in an angled collision. Sergeant Hunt located the driver of the white Ford Ranger, listed offender (Donald Wallin). Sergeant Hunt observed Emergency Personnel actively assisting another subject on the southbound shoulder of the road, later identified as listed victim [VICTIM #1].Sergeant Hunt began collect photos of the scene and vehicle information of the vehicles involved. Sergeant Hunt spoke with listed witnesses ([WITNESS #1], [WITNESS #2], and [WITNESS #3]). [WITNESS #1] along with [WITNESS #2] and [WITNESS #3] stated they were traveling north on North Main Street in front of Greg’s Restaurant. They observed a white pickup truck pull out of the parking lot. [WITNESS #1] advised he slammed on his brakes and the driver (Donald) continued to proceed to turn left onto North Main Street. Donald did not check for the motorcycle that was in the inside northbound lane and struck the motorcycle [VICTIM #1].Sergeant Hunt was informed while on scene [VICTIM #1] was in unstable condition. Donald did not appear to be injured nor did he have any complaints of injury. Sergeant Hunt and other Law Enforcement on scene observed a camera outside the Tri-State Metals building and spoke with the business to view a recording of the incident. Sergeant Hunt observed the video of the accident.In the video Donald is pulling out of Greg’s Restaurant onto Pickard Drive and stops at the stop sign. Several Cars pass Donald traveling north. In the video a SUV (driven by [WITNESS #1]) is in the outside lane and as they approached Greg’s the front end of the vehicle goes down towards the asphalt which typically is an indication of brakes being pressed aggressively or heavily (in response to an urgent situation). The motorcycle which is actively proceeding north as Donald continues to cross the lanes of travel to turn left and travel southbound. Donald advised he was trying to get to the center lane to later merge into traffic. Donald failed to yield to oncoming traffic after stopping at a stop sign and proceed to misuse the center lane as a merge lane resulted in a collision with [VICTIM #1]. Donald turned in a sharp motion and accelerated, which those actions met the front of his vehicle to the front and right side of [VICTIM #1] motorcycle.After the point of impact the motorcycle went down on the left side and pushed into the center lane, leaving scuffs in the asphalt from [VICTIM #1]’s highway pegs/bars. Donalds vehicle after the point of impact jarred immediately in the air and towards the right. [VICTIM #1] was thrown from the motorcycle and traveled in the air for approximately 20-26 feet over the southbound lane. [VICTIM #1] would land in the grass on shoulder of the southbound outside lane.Medic 15 loaded [VICTIM #1] into the ambulance and transported him to CHI Memorial Hospital. Sergeant Hunt attempted to contact family to advise them of [VICTIM #1] situation. One of the passerby was familiar with [VICTIM #1] and was able to provide a contact number and name for [VICTIM #1]’s spouse. Sergeant Hunt attempted to contact and had not success. [VICTIM #1]’s spouse [REDACTED] was contacted by Assistant Chief C. Reynolds and informed of the situation. At 13:20 hours, Sergeant Hunt was advised [VICTIM #1] was pronounce deceased by CHI emergency personnel. Both vehicles were recovered by Tow Bros Wrecker Service. When speaking with Donald there were no signs of impairment, and when asked about the accident he advised he had enough time to make it.[End of Narrative].
