On December 19, 2024
, I, investigator C. Waddell was working an part time security detail at [600 BLOCK] Northside drive Griffin, GA 30223, when I responded in non emergency mode to apartment [REDACTED] in reference to dispute in progress.
Upon my arrival I was advised by subjects the parties involved were around the back of [REDACTED] building. I relocated and made with two black males and a white female, later identified as [VICTIM ] (W/F DOB who all yelling. I asked where the gun was and a male subject, later identified as [VICTIM ] (B/M DOB /1980, advised the other male subject, identified as Roderick Etheridge B/M DOB /1973 who was standing on the landing of [REDACTED] building, I approached Roderick who stated the firearm was inside the residence. I instructed Roderick to turn around and patted him down to confirm the firearm was not on him. While trying to speak to Roderick [VICTIM ] and [VICTIM ] were continuing to yell. I asked Roderick to step into his residence to speak.
Roderick stated everyone was hanging out and drinking when a verbal altercation occurred. While speaking with Roderick I could smell the odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Roderick stated he lifted his shirt to show a pistol and began to tell people to leave the porch. Roderick stated he never pointed the firearm at anyone. Roderick stated the firearm had been put up. Roderick stated the firearm was in a cabinet. Roderick removed the bag the firearm was in from the cabinet and showed me the firearm. I advised Roderick to stay in the apartment and I would be back.
I spoke with [VICTIM ]. [VICTIM ] stated they were hanging out and had been drinking. [VICTIM ] stated his wife, [VICTIM ], went inside and was talking to Roderick’s girlfriend, who had left the scene but returned later. While speaking with [VICTIM ] I could smell the odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage coming from his person [VICTIM ] stated that the verbal altercation started because of the way Roderick yelled at his girlfriend. [VICTIM ] stated as the altercation escalated Roderick went back into his house and came out with a pistol in his hand. [VICTIM ] stated Roderick began to click the bullets out and point the pistol toward the people on the porch. [VICTIM ] started Roderick pointed the pistol at his head at one point. [VICTIM ] stated he began to bob and weave and leave the area. [VICTIM ] stated that he was afraid for his life
I spoke with [VICTIM ] who stated they were hanging out on the porch drinking, when she went inside and began talking to [WITNESS ] after using the restroom. [VICTIM ] stated while in the house Roderick got in her face and pushed her. [VICTIM ] stated she walked out of the house back onto the porch. [VICTIM ] stated Roderick went back inside came outside with a gun. [VICTIM ] stated he began to click the bullets out of the gun. [VICTIM ] stated Roderick was telling them to leave and as they were leaving he pointed the gun at her head and her husband, [VICTIM ]’s head. [VICTIM ] agreed to write a statement.
I spoke with [WITNESS ] (B/F DOB /1986) who was across the breeze way at the rear of building [REDACTED]. [WITNESS ] stated Roderick came of out of the house with a gun in his hand and was pointing the gun at people telling them to get off the porch. [WITNESS ] was unwilling to write a statement.
I spoke with [WITNESS ] (B/F DOB /1993) who is Roderick’s girlfriend. I asked [WITNESS ] what had happened tonight. [WITNESS ] stated she guessed they were being obnoxious. [WITNESS ] stated she came out the house and was told to go back into the house. [WITNESS ] stated her and [VICTIM ] were talking and then she left the residence. I advised [WITNESS ] Roderick was under arrest, and I was taking the firearm as evidence.
I returned to Roderick’s apartment and tried to confirm his story. Roderick was placed in handcuffs behind his back by LT Strock and Deputy Ramsammy. The bag containing the firearm was retrieved and collected as evidence. The firearm is a Sccy CPX-1 9mm pistol. The bag with the gun was transported to the Sheriff’s Office to be logged into evidence. Deputy Ramsammy transported Roderick to the Spalding County Detention Center.
