On October 9 2024
at 1842 hours I, Deputy Terry and Corporal Hoskins were dispatched to a Domestic Dispute located at [100 BLOCK] Thornbrooke Dr. Upon arriving on scene I spoke with the complainant, [REDACTED] who stated the following: [REDACTED]’s brother, Axcel Colon called him and informed him that he was struck with a frying pan by his girlfriend, Rhonda Daugherty. [REDACTED] informed Deputies that both parties were inside and extremely intoxicated.
Rhonda opened the front door and Deputies immediately observed visible bruising on her right eye and a cut on her nose. At first Rhonda told Deputies that she had fallen and repeatedly requested Deputies not take Axcel to jail. Deputies attempted to speak with Axcel who stated he never touched Rhonda and that they only argue at times. Deputies instructed Rhonda to stay separated in the kitchen while we conducted our investigation. Rhonda left the kitchen numerous times after Deputies repeated their instructions. Rhonda then stated to Axcel’s family that she struck Axcel with a pan in self defense due to Axcel striking her in the face.
I went outside to speak with Cpl. Hoskins and Axcel’s close family was sitting on the porch. Rhonda came outside on the phone with her father and began to shout and curse at Axcel’s family. Rhonda gave me her phone to speak to her father. While speaking to her father on the phone Cpl. Hoskins began to place Rhonda in handcuffs due to her vulgar language and outburst outside. Rhonda began to pull away from Cpl. Hoskins, I placed the phone on the ground and went to assist Cpl. Hoskins. Rhonda was placed in handcuffs which were double locked and checked for proper fit and she was placed in the back of my patrol vehicle. Rhonda was read her Miranda Rights which she refused and immediately began to inform Deputies that Axcel struck her in the face which caused her bruising.
I spoke with Cpl. Hoskins and it was determined Axcel would also be placed under arrest for Battery. Axcel was instructed to walk with us to our patrol vehicle. Axcel was then placed in handcuffs and patted down. the handcuffs were checked for proper fit and double locked. Axcel was placed in the back of Cpl. Hoskins’ patrol vehicle. Rhonda and Axcel were transported to the Paulding County Detention Center without any incident. Both were placed in the custody of the Detention Center staff and I returned to service. Photos of Rhonda’s bruising and marks have been attached to the IDrive.
