at approximately 0340 hrs., while I, Sgt. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] 4708) was on patrol, I was approached by VICTIM while I was at the RaceTrac gas station located at 5882 Wendy Bagwell Parkway.
Mr. [VICTIM ] stated to me that he had just been assaulted and shot at while he was at the Sleep Inn and Suites located at 181 Metromont Road. He stated that he was there to meet with a friend. He stated that he observed a white male, later identified as Denson, Anthony Steven (Offender/Arrested) who was wearing a red shirt standing outside of the hotel and appeared to be yelling. Mr. [VICTIM ] stated that as he went to enter the hotel, he was approached by Mr. Denson who began to yell at him as well. He stated that during the altercation, Mr. Denson produced two handguns, and attempted to give one to him (Mr. [VICTIM ]) in an attempt to get Mr. [VICTIM ] to fight with him. He stated that Mr. Denson pointed one of the guns to his (Mr. [VICTIM ]’s) head. Mr. [VICTIM ] stated he then went back to his vehicle to leave and Mr. Denson began firing shots as he pulled out of the parking lot. I advised Mr. [VICTIM ] to go to the Popeye’s, located at 5329 Wendy Bagwell Parkway and to stand by there while I attempted to make at Sleep Inn with the suspect.
Upon arrival to Sleep Inn along with Ofc. REDACTED BY AGENCY, Mr. Denson (wearing a red shirt) was observed standing outside the front door of the hotel. Ofc. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] activated his blue lights and we both exited our vehicles. As I exited my vehicle, I heard Mr. Denson state “It’s open carry,” (Indicating that he was armed). Mr. Denson began to ask if we were “gang stalkers.” I began to give Mr. Denson verbal commands and told him to place his hands on his head. Mr. Denson replied “Am I under arrested?” I advised him he was being detained and to put his hands on his head. Mr. Denson ignored multiple commands to do so and became more argumentative.
I asked Dispatch for additional units due to Mr. Denson’s behavior. Mr. Denson kept reaching towards his waist band and then lifted his shirt and said “look right here,” where I observed a handgun in his back pocket. I drew my department issued Glock model 45 9mm sidearm and pointed it at Mr. Denson and continued to give loud verbal commands to put his hands on his head and to get on his knees, which he continued to ignore. Once Ofc. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] produced his department issued TASER, Mr. Denson began to comply and went to a knee where we approached and Ofc. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was able to secure him in handcuffs. While ing him, we recovered two handguns, one from each back pocket. As we removed them, Mr. Denson stated tha they were both his.
We walked Mr. Denson to the front of Ofc. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] patrol car where he was more thoroughly ed. I secured the handguns in my patrol car. While securing them, I observed one to have 1 live round in the chamber and 5 rounds in the magazine, and the other to have a live around in the chamber and 7 rounds in the magazine. I then attempted to talk to Mr. Denson. I read Mr. Denson his Miranda Rights, while he was yelling at me the whole time. I asked if he understood them and he continued to be argumentative. Due to his state, no questions were asked and he was secured in Ofc. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] patrol car.
Once the scene was secure, I had a responding deputy meet with Mr. [VICTIM ] and escort him to our location. Once there, I asked him to tell me what happened again. He stated that he was there to meet a friend and was sitting in his car at the far end of the parking lot near AMC Movies. He stated that Mr. Denson was under the awning of the hotel and was yelling. He stated that as he went to enter the hotel, Mr. Denson stopped him and began to argue with him. He stated Mr. Denson then pulled a gun out, cycled the action, and threw it at him. He stated that Mr. Denson pulled out a second handgun and continued to argue with him and pointed the handgun at him. He stated he went back to his vehicle and Mr. Denson followed him, and began to do something to rear of the vehicle.
It was determined that Mr. Denson had forcibly removed the license plate from Mr. [VICTIM ]’s vehicle, causing damage to the mounting bracket of his vehicle as Mr. Denson kept the license plate. Mr. Denson then further damaged the license plate. Mr. [VICTIM ] stated that he was leaving, he heard shots being fired. Mr. [VICTIM ] filled out a Witness Statement Form and it was placed in the case file. Total damage to the license plate and the mounting bracket for the vehicle was less than $500.00.
While ing the scene, I located the Georgia License Plate [REDACTED BY AGENCY] (belonging to Mr. [VICTIM ]) in the grass area next to the south eastern section of the parking lot where Mr. [VICTIM ] stated he had been parked. Also located in the southern end of the parking lot were four spent 9mm shell casings. I notified Lt. REDACTED BY AGENCY of the situation and then notified Crime Scene Investigator REDACTED BY AGENCY. He responded to photograph the scene and all evidence was picked up by him. I also turned over both firearms and their respective magazines and ammunition to him.
While processing the scene, Mr. Denson’s property he had with him during the incident was ed and more ammunition and another loaded magazine were found in a clear plastic tote that had his clothing and other personal items in it. The magazine and ammunition were collected by Inv. [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. Mr. Denson’s vehicle was also identified at the scene, a red in color 1990 Chevrolet truck. The vehicle was photographed and towed by Bradley’s Customs and towing. A hold was placed on it per Inv. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Mr. Denson’s other property was placed in the truck and a Impound Sheet was completed.
Ofc. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] transported Mr. Denson to the Paulding County Jail.

Mr. Denson repeatedly points a handgun at Mr. [VICTIM ], picks up the first one he threw, and points both at Mr. [VICTIM ]. Mr. Denson follows Mr. [VICTIM ] to his vehicle where he can be see forcibly removing the tag from Mr. [VICTIM ]’s vehicle.
As Mr. [VICTIM ] exits the parking lot, Mr. Denson can be seen running towards the vehicle with his arm raised in a shooting position. Mr. Denson then walks back to the front of the hotel, and can be seen pointing both firearms in multiple directions at the same time and at one point, to his own head. He then throws one handgun on the ground and reloads the other with ammunition from the box containing his clothes and other personal property. He picks up the second one and puts it back in his pocket. He continued to walk around and talk to himself. Officers then arrive on scene.
