at 23:36, Deputy Dillard, was dispatched to [200 BLOCK] Mashburn RD, Resaca, GA 30735 in reference to an Unknown call. Dispatch stated that it sounded like a woman struggling to breathe on the phone, but they could not understand what she was saying. I, SFC Watson, responded as well.
Upon my arrival, I made with Jeremy Ivey outside the . I asked who had called 911 and he said nobody there had called. I told him what dispatch had said and he said his mother is bed ridden and has breathing problems. We walked inside and his mother, [REDACTED], said she had not called. I asked if there was anyone else there other than the people in the room and Jeremy said no. [WITNESS ] gestured toward a camper outside. I asked again if there was anyone else there. Jeremy said no again and [WITNESS ] looked angry with him. She stated he was not going to do this in this house and he needed to be honest with me.
I asked Jeremy to step outside with me. I asked him why he had lied. He said he was on probation. I asked who was there and what happened. He said his girlfriend was there and that they had just been arguing. I placed his hands behind his back, placed him in hand cuffs, checked the cuffs for fit, and double locked the cuffs. I told him he was not under arrest at that time, but was being detained. I explained I could not watch him, while I checked on who was in the camper. I had him sit in the back of my patrol car and I went to check the camper.
I knocked on the camper door and a female who said her name was [VICTIM ] stepped outside. It appeared she had some bruising and scratches on her face. I could also see that there was a bloody scratch on her right should. I asked her what happened. She said she had been assaulted by her boyfriend, Jeremy Ivey, who she lived in the camper with. She said they had been arguing and Jeremy grabbed a knife and threatened to slit her throat. She said he then punched her several times in the head and strangled her. She said he put both hands around her throat and squeezed. I asked if that put her in fear for her life and she said it did. I asked if that prevented her from breathing and she said it did. I asked what the argument had been over.
EMS and Fire personnel also responded to this call. I had them check on [VICTIM ] while I went to speak to other parties on scene. [WITNESS ] said that he did not see the assault. He said that Jeremy is often violent and has attacked him and [WITNESS ] in the past. He said that Jeremy had came to the house tonight after arguing with [VICTIM ].
[WITNESS ] said she did not see the assault. She did not provide many details about what happened tonight. She said she did not want Jeremy to be arrested, but to get help instead. I also spoke to [REDACTED]. She is the mother of Jeremy and [WITNESS ]. She is confined to a bed and did not see what occurred.
I went back outside and saw that Deputy Dillard had arrived on scene. I went back to the camper. I asked [VICTIM ] to give me the knife she said Jeremy had threatened her with. I did not go in the camper due to dogs in the camper. [VICTIM ] stepped inside then stepped back out and gave me the knife. I did tell [VICTIM ] about the TPO process. I had Deputy Dillard give her a card for Domestic violence Outreach.
I then returned to my patrol vehicle. I informed Jeremy Ivey that he was now under arrest. I transported him to the Murray County Jail and turned him over to jail staff without incident.
I did take pictures of [VICTIM ] and her injuries. The knife given to me by [VICTIM ] was placed into evidence.
