On 01/02/24, at 1830 hours, I was dispatched to the area of [1000 BLOCK] Pineland Ave (Pineland Sqaure Apartments) in reference to a possible shooting. Central dispatch advised that the victim, Mr. [VICTIM ] was a UPS driver and was shot at.
I met with Mr. [VICTIM ] at the Enmarket (791 Elma G Miles Pkwy). Mr. [VICTIM ] advised that he was out at [900 BLOCK] Pine St. initially when he had an incident with some juveniles that engaged in a verbal dispute with him, because he had to drive around them when they were playing basketball in the middle of the road.
Mr. [VICTIM ] said once he left Pine St, he went to [900 BLOCK] Hollywood Dr, which was along his delivery route. Mr. [VICTIM ] said he was confronted by a black male that was approximately 5’8, 140 pounds, wearing black shoes, black sweatpants, and a long sleeve shirt that had graphics on it. Mr. [VICTIM ] explained that the suspected juvenile was upset and said that he was being disrespectful towards his younger brother. This juvenile also stated that he would put something to the effect of a “gang gang” on him. Mr. [VICTIM ] then left the area and ed 911. Mr. [VICTIM ] said when he was driving down Hollywood Dr., he was being chased by the suspected juvenile who was holding a handgun. Mr. [VICTIM ] was advised by the operator to leave the area, so he did.
Mr. [VICTIM ] left Hollywood Dr. and went to Pineland Square apartments along his route. Mr. [VICTIM ] said he was then confronted again by the juvenile in black, and another individual in a yellow hoodie that was heavier set. Mr. [VICTIM ] advised he left again, but when he was exiting Pineland Square to turn onto Pineland Ave, the male in all black shot at him while he was in his truck. Mr. [VICTIM ] explained the juvenile was approximately 10-15 foot away from him, and he was able to see the muzzle flash from the pistol he shot.
There were two shell casings were recovered in the proximity of where the Mr. [VICTIM ] advised he was shot at. Mr. [VICTIM ] remained at Enmarket until he met with Officers, Deputies, and a Detective.
The Detective’s Division was notified of the incident and Detective Jessen (145) responded to the scene.
A subject involved in the incident that was matching the description provided by the victim was seen by apartment [REDACTED], and detained. Based off statements made by the detained party and officer’s observations at this apartment CID advised they were going to get a warrant for the pistol and alleged other party inside the residence.
A safety sweep of the residence was done with the permission of one of the residents, and all occupants were removed from the house. These occupants were identified as Javien Jackson, [REDACTED]’s, and [REDACTED].
The individual previously detained, [JUVENILE ] advised he had knowledge of the shooting and those involved.
Detectives arrived at the incident location and assumed the investigation.
Mr. Jackson was placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault. Mr. Jackson was interviewed at the Hinesville Police Department and subsequently transported to the Liberty County Jail.
[JUVENILE ] was detained by the Department of Juvenile Justice and Transported to Claxton Youth Detention Center
