On Saturday, October 12, 2024
at approximately 9:12 P.M. I was dispatched to 290 SR-49 Macon Ga. 31217 in reference to a Domestic with Problems.
I arrived on scene and the store clerk started telling me that the guy had just left in a gray Dodge Charger, since he was gone I went ahead and made with Mr. [WITNESS ] who was driving a white Ford F-150 and in the truck with him was Teraney Washington. I tried talking with Mr. [WITNESS ] in order to find out what had happened, however, Miss. Washington kept saying “It’s okay, nothing happened, it’s okay” to the point that I had to get Mr. [WITNESS ] out of the truck just so that we could talk. I got Mr. [WITNESS ]’ Driver’s License and had dispatch run him, he came back all valid no warrants. Mr. [WITNESS ] stated that the young lady in his truck got out of the vehicle that she was in with her boyfriend and jumped in the truck with him. They are good friends and he told the boyfriend that he needed to get someone else to drive him because he was too drunk to be driving. Mr. [WITNESS ] then stated that he was going to take the Teraney Washington and was going to stay the night at her house for her safety.
I asked Miss. Washington for her I.D. and she did not have one on her person. I had Dispatch run her via name and date of birth, it came back no driver found for Georgia and Illinois which is where she stated that she was from. She did not give me the wrong information, her phone was dead but she stated that she has a picture of her I.D. on her phone. I charged he phone in my car, while it was charging I got Miss. Washington to explain to me what happened. She stated that she did not want to be in the vehicle with her boyfriend with him being drunk, so she got out and jumped in the truck with Mr. [WITNESS ] and she locked her door. When I asked for her boyfriend’s name she kept saying “it is okay, nothing happened, it is okay.” Finally she started giving me his name and date of birth. As I was talking with Mr. [WITNESS ] again, a gray Dodge Charger pulled up and stopped behind my patrol car and two black males got out of it.
Deputy Robinson was on scene at this time with me and the male that was later identified as Sharrod James approached Deputy Robinson and put his hands behind his own back and stated “go on and do what you gotta do I know what time it is.” I was still talking with Mr. [WITNESS ] at this time but my attention went to the gray Charger due to that was what the store clerk said that the guy left in. As Deputy Robinson asked for the guys I.D. the guy stated “I don’t have to give you my information, I don’t answer to Jones County.” So, Robinson told the guy to get back in his car and leave then, that is when I spoke up and said he is the other part of the Domestic Dispute, I need to talk with him. Mr. James then got belligerent stating I’m from Macon, I don’t answer to Jones County, y’all can’t make me give you my I.D. At that time I reminded Mr. James that he is in Jones County and he is a part of my investigation and I need his I.D.
Mr. James kept saying the same thing over and over while getting louder and louder and getting in my face. I asked for his name and date of birth, Mr. James went to say it again, so I turned Mr. James around and told him he is under arrest for obstruction. As I was putting the hand cuffs on him he started telling me his name and date of birth. I then told him it is too late now, what’s done is done. As I was placing Mr. James in handcuffs I could hear Deputy Robinson telling the other male to get back in the car, the guy kept telling Robinson “I know my rights,” Robinson was telling him that we do not like having people standing behind us when we are dealing with other people. The male just kept backing up away from Deputy Robinson and was coming back to the place where I was dealing with Sharrod James, at that time Deputy Robinson stated to the male “if you don’t start listening then I am going to arrest you for obstruction.”
The male stated something along the lines of you can’t do that, I know my rights. As I was putting Sharrod James in the back of my patrol car after checking the handcuffs for fit and double locking them, I noticed Deputy Robinson putting handcuffs on the other male. Deputy Robinson got him up and placed him in the back of my patrol car as well.
Now, with those two under arrest I turned my attention back to Miss. Washington. I got her phone out of my patrol car and handed it to her so that she could show me a picture of her I.D. I had dispatch run the number and she came back with a warrant out of Bibb County. I asked them to confirm, dispatch advised that Bibb County does want to place hold on her. I placed her in handcuffs, checked them for fit, double locked them and placed her in the back of Deputy Robinson’s patrol car. I ran Zyon James’ name and date of birth through GCIC and nothing came back. I asked him if he has a driver’s License and he stated no. I informed dispatch that I was in route to the Jones County jail with two black males, starting mileage was 135673, at my arrival my ending mileage was 135683.
Sharrod James was booked and charged with Obstruction of Law Enforcement and Disorderly Conduct. He was turned over to the Jones County Jail Staff.
Zyon James was booked and charged with Obstruction of Law Enforcement and Driving without a Driver’s License and he was turned over to the Jones County Jail Staff.
Teraney Washington was brought to the Jones County Jail due to a Warrant for her arrest out of Bibb County, she was turned over to the Jones County Jail Staff while she waits on Bibb County to come pick her up.
The gray Dodge Charger was turned over to Mr. [WITNESS ] and he had someone coming to get the car. Mr. [WITNESS ] was released from the scene
