On Sunday, 06/30/2024
, at approximately 0601 hours, I was dispatched to [300 BLOCK] Klondike Road in reference to a traffic crash that occurred on Grovania Road near Pyles Road.
Before arrival, Dispatch advised someone called in a traffic crash that occurred on Grovania Road near Pyles Road. A white sedan had rolled completely over into a field with air bag deployment. There was debris all over the roadway and field from the crash. The 911 caller stated no one was around the crash or appeared to be in the car.
Sergeant Mitchelson and Deputy T. Jones arrived on scene to assist. The white sedan was a 2018 Toyota Camry, Georgia tag [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. The registered owner of the vehicle was offender Trenton Johnson. Dispatch was able to make with Trenton by phone. Trenton told Dispatch he was driving the vehicle when it wrecked and he walked after the crash happened.
I made with Trenton at his residence. Trenton stated he was at the Main Street Bar, 740 Main Street watching the UFC fight on 06/29/2024
. He left the bar around 2330 hours to drive . While he was traveling east on Grovania Road he stated he fell asleep while driving and wrecked his Camry in the field. I asked Trenton if he needed medical attention from EMS and he refused stating he was fine.
I asked Trenton if he had anything to drink at the bar. Trenton stated he had a double shot of tequila and a Modelo beer. He stated he stopped drinking around 2230 hours before he left around 2330 hours. I reiterated what Trenton told me what happened before the crash and he stated instead of falling asleep while driving he swerved to miss 2 deer before he crashed in the field.
Trenton stated he was unable to call 911 to report the crash because he lost his phone during the incident. After he walked to his house, he told his father, witness [WITNESS ] what happened. [WITNESS ] and Trenton went back to the crash to see if the vehicle was driveable. After they observed the Camry had disabling damage to it, [WITNESS ] told me they left the scene to go back and was going to come back the next morning for a wrecker to get the car. [WITNESS ] stated he did not think to call 911 because only Trenton was involved in the crash.
I advised Trenton his was being arrested for leaving the scene of a crash and failure to report a crash. I secured him in handcuffs behind his back and checked them for proper fitting. The handcuffs were double locked. He was transported to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center and turned over to the detention staff to be booked on his citations.
