On August 6, 2024
at 2000 hours I, Ofc. Wojtal, was observing traffic at Watson Blvd. and S. Pleasant Hill Rd., when I observed a white in color Ford Taurus travel through a red traffic signal going west bound. I then activated my emergency lights and sirens and caught up to the vehicle at 1557 Watson Blvd. where the vehicle pulled into a parking space and stopped. The vehicle, GA tag [REDACTED], had dark tinted windows, and upon walking up to the driver side of the vehicle, I observed Damian Jackson, sitting in the passenger front seat.
Mr. Jackson attempted to advise another male had been driving and had left the vehicle, however no other individual was observed leaving the vehicle while stopping. Mr. Jackson was also the only occupant of the vehicle. Mr. Jackson then stated he had done it because his license was “not good”. I then checked his name and date of birth through dispatch, and was advised of open warrants on Mr. Jackson.
Mr. Jackson was then taken into custody for DOC obstruction and his open warrants and assisted to my patrol vehicle. Dispatch then advised the warrants to be valid and holds were requested. Mr. Jackson was then transported to police headquarters and issued a state citation for failure to obey a traffic control device and a city citation for disorderly conduct- obstruction before being turned over to booking staff.
