On September 11, 2024
at approximately 1:34 P.M. I, Deputy J.Carver 29 and Deputy K. Starland 33 were dispatched to the area of Old Highway 5 South at Whitestone Road North in reference to a property dispute. Dispatch advised us that ETC contractors were at the residence of [100 BLOCK] Whitestone Road North putting in fiber optic cables when a male pulled up next to them and started threatening to shoot them with a pistol and then a rifle. We responded code three with all emergency equipment activated. Prior to our arrival dispatch stated that the male in a cream in color Silverado had left the scene and was parked just south of Whitestone Road.
We located the truck backed into [7300 BLOCK] Old Highway 5 South which is just south of Whitestone Road North. I made with a male in the drivers seat and ordered him out of the vehicle with his hands up. I had the male place his hands on the front of his truck so I could pat him down for weapons. No weapons were found on him. Mr. Sanford did have over $2700 on him and was counted in front of him and on camera. I then had the male explain what was going on and he stated that we already knew and he was a dumb a*s. I asked him if he had any weapons on him and he stated that they were in the truck. I then got his drivers license out of his wallet and at this time Sgt. Pim and Corporal Scott arrived on scene. I had Sgt. Pim go speak with the ETC employees still located at the scene. I identified the male as Timothy Sanford. Mr. Sanford was being very uncooperative and refused to give information and stated that we already knew everything.
Sgt. Pim arrived back on scene with us and she stated that Mr. Sanford had pulled up next to the workers ([VICTIM ] and [VICTIM ]) and threatened to shoot them and stated if they didn’t leave there would be problems. Mr. [VICTIM ] and Mr. [VICTIM ] stated that Mr. Sanford pulled a pistol on them first and then a rifle. We located the pistol and rifle inside Mr. Sanford’s truck already loaded. When Corporal Scott ran the serial numbers on the guns the pistol came back stolen. Corporal Scott also ran the tag ([REDACTED]) and it returned to a Toyota Tacoma registered to Mr. Sanford but was placed on the Silverado. Corporal Scott ran the vin on the truck and it returned to a [REDACTED] from Norcross, GA. We were unable to get in touch with the registered owner.
I placed Mr. Sanford under arrest for aggravated assault and possession of stolen property. I placed him in handcuffs behind his back, checked them for proper fit, and double locked them. Mr. Sanford was placed in the back drivers side of patrol car 424 and transported to the Gilmer County Adult Detention Center where he was turned over to the detention staff without incident. Corporal Scott and Sgt. Pim stayed on scene and had Bradburns Towing come to pickup the Silverado.
Detective Stanfield and Detective Farnham were ed and made aware of the incident. Victims notification forms were completed by Sgt. Pim and turned in to the detention center. Sgt. Pim also provided the victims with victims pamplets.
Corporal Scott placed the firearms into evidence locker , property receipt # 20134.
