Discretion is advised.]On 09/17/2024, I, Deputy Heptinstall., responded code three to Old Highway 5 South in an attempt to locate possible victims of a shooting. While proceeding down Old 5 South traveling towards Howard Simmons Rd., I noticed a Jeep stopped in the opposite lane in front of Freeman Gas and as I drove by I could hear screaming coming from inside and outside of the vehicle.I immediately stopped and made with the females who informed me their friend in the passenger seat had a bullet hole in the back of her head. After walking to the passenger side of the vehicle I noticed a female doing chest compressions on another female that was slumped over in the seat. While looking at the female that was slumped over I immediately noticed that there was a hole in the back of her head and immediately notified dispatch of information so that fire, EMS and on call CID could be informed of her location and condition. A few moments after notifying them of our location, fire and EMS arrived on scene to take over and provide care to the female with the bullet wound.Sergeant Humphries, Corporal Sawyer and Deputy Ledford arrived on scene shortly after fire and EMS had arrived to inquire about the details of the incident. While I was attempting to speak to the females and get their names and basic information, they were in a state of panic because of the whole incident that had occurred. Med 1 transported the victim with the gunshot wound to Piedmont Ellijay and then airlifted her to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia. The scene was handed over to Detective Kirk Champion after his arrival.[End of Narrative].
