PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. – A woman was shot and killed by Hiram police after allegedly stabbing a man to death during a domestic incident at an apartment complex on Sunday afternoon.

The incident happened just after 1:00 p.m. at the Columns at Hiram Apartment Complex on Bill Carruth Parkway. Officers responded to reports of an aggravated assault and arrived to find a man with life-threatening stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to authorities, officers confronted the female suspect, who was still armed with a knife. Despite repeated commands to drop the weapon, she refused. Officers attempted to subdue her using a Taser, but when that failed and she advanced toward them, they fired. The woman was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Investigators believe the suspect and victim were known to each other and that the stabbing stemmed from a domestic dispute.

None of the officers involved were injured. Per department policy, the three officers who discharged their weapons have been placed on administrative leave. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is handling the case with support from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office and the Hiram Police Department.

Neighbors described the complex as typically quiet and were shocked by the violence. A witness captured dashcam footage showing the suspect sitting next to the victim's body in the parking lot before police arrived.

The names of those involved have not yet been released pending notification of next of kin and the ongoing investigation.
