FULTON COUNTY, Ga. – Atlanta rapper and actor T.I., along with his wife, Tameka "Tiny" Harris, and the pop group OMG Girlz, have been awarded $71 million in damages after winning a lawsuit against MGA Entertainment. The lawsuit claimed that the toy company copied the likenesses of the girl group for its O.M.G. doll line without permission.

T.I. and Tiny formed the OMG Girlz in 2009, with members including their daughter, Zonnique "Star" Pullins, Bahja "Beauty" Rodriguez, and Breaunna "Babydoll" Womack. The group, known for its distinctive style, disbanded in 2015.

During the three-week trial in Orange County, California, the former group members testified that MGA Entertainment had replicated their fashion and appearances from public events. Their attorneys also presented social media posts from fans who had noticed similarities between the dolls and the OMG Girlz.

MGA denied the claims, arguing that the group had not suffered financial harm and that their dolls were not being confused with the "short-lived" musical act. However, a federal jury ruled that MGA violated the group’s intellectual property rights with seven dolls in the collection, awarding $53.6 million in punitive damages and $17.8 million in actual damages.

This marks the couple's third legal battle with MGA Entertainment over similar claims. Their first lawsuit ended in a mistrial, and a second was initially ruled in MGA’s favor before being appealed and overturned.

MGA, the company behind the L.O.L. Surprise! doll line, which debuted in 2016, now has the option to appeal the verdict. The brand became a massive success, selling over 2.4 million dolls and expanding into animated films, video games, and additional toy lines.
