FULTON COUNTY, Ga. – The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced its 2025 nominees, with two iconic Atlanta-based groups, Outkast and The Black Crowes, making the list. The Hall’s latest press release revealed 14 nominated artists and groups, including these legendary acts from Georgia.

Outkast, the groundbreaking hip-hop duo of André “3000” Benjamin and Antwan “Big Boi” Patton, helped define Southern rap with their innovative sound. Meanwhile, The Black Crowes, founded in 1984 by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson, became known for their blues-infused rock and classic hits. The current lineup includes Chris Robinson, drummer Cully Symington, bassist Sven Pipien, and guitarists Nico Bereciartua, Marc Ford, Jeff Cease, and Audley Freed.

To qualify for nomination, artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior. This year, eight of the 14 nominees—including Outkast and The Black Crowes—are first-time contenders.

“The 2025 nominees have each created a distinct musical style, influencing generations of fans and shaping the evolution of rock & roll,” said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.

In addition to Outkast and The Black Crowes, other nominees include Bad Company, Mariah Carey, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Joy Division/New Order, Cyndi Lauper, Maná, Oasis, Phish, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes.

The Hall of Fame will announce its inductees in April, with the official Induction Ceremony set to take place in Los Angeles in the fall.

The Black Crowes recently reunited, releasing Happiness Bastards, their first album in over a decade, and earning a Grammy nomination. Outkast, though inactive as a duo since their 2014 farewell tour, remains one of the most celebrated acts in hip-hop history. If inducted, fans could witness a long-awaited reunion performance from André 3000 and Big Boi.
