RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. – Murder charges have been dropped against three individuals after an autopsy revealed that a 3-month-old baby, initially believed to have died from hypothermia, did not succumb to cold exposure as first suspected.
New evidence cleared Bennie Nash, Lamisha Seright, and September Seright, who had been facing malice murder and felony murder charges in connection with the infant’s death. September Seright, the child’s mother, had been accused of placing the baby in a wet blanket and leaving him in front of an air conditioning unit set at 61 degrees Fahrenheit.
However, an autopsy conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation determined that the baby’s body temperature was above 95 degrees at the time of death, ruling out hypothermia. The official cause of death remains undetermined.
Following these findings, all three individuals have been released from the Richmond County Jail.
