COBB COUNTY, Ga. – A Kennesaw daycare worker has been arrested after a toddler reportedly ingested a THC product that authorities believe fell from the employee’s pocket, according to police.

On February 18, Acworth police were called to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital after a 20-month-old girl was brought in exhibiting unusual lethargy. Medical testing confirmed the presence of THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, in the child’s system.

Investigators traced the incident back to Laugh and Learn Daycare, located at 3030 Cobb Parkway. Security footage reviewed by police showed the child consuming an item believed to contain THC after it fell from the pocket of a daycare worker identified as Zyraina Stanice Fu’cia, 24, of Acworth. The video also showed the child was left unattended for over 30 minutes, struggling to stay upright, police said.

The child’s parents reported receiving a call from the daycare alerting them to the incident, after which they took their daughter to the hospital.

Fu’cia was arrested on February 25 and charged with reckless conduct and cruelty to children. She was later released from the Cobb County Adult Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.

According to daycare officials, Fu’cia has since been terminated following an internal investigation.

Authorities are asking anyone with additional information to contact the Acworth Police Department at 770-974-1232.
