On January 27, investigators responded to the fatal overdose of a 14-year-old in Norcross. Their investigation revealed that the victim had purchased fentanyl-laced Percocets from Brenda Alfaro-Alvarado (21, Norcross) on January 23 and January 27. The following day, authorities arrested Alfaro-Alvarado, charging her with:
- Aggravated Involuntary Manslaughter for Fentanyl Overdose Death
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Substance
- Conspiracy to Violate the Georgia Controlled Substances Act
- Use of a Communication Facility During the Commission of a Felony
- Cruelty to Children in the Second Degree
- Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance
Authorities confirmed Alfaro-Alvarado supplied fentanyl to multiple juveniles, leading to several overdoses, including survivors.
Arrest of Narcotics Distributor
Following additional investigation, police identified Angel Alexander Nava-Nava (20, Norcross) as the supplier of the fentanyl provided to the 14-year-old victim. On February 11, Nava-Nava was charged with:

- Sale of a Schedule II Controlled Substance
- Use of a Communication Facility During the Commission of a Felony
During a search of Nava-Nava’s residence, officers seized:
- 2.1 grams of fentanyl-laced Percocets
- 4.9 grams of additional fentanyl
- 155 grams of marijuana
- Two handguns
- $1,700 in cash
He now faces additional charges, including:
