Discretion is advised.]On 2/10/2025while conducting stationary commercial motor vehicle enforcement at the intersection of Blue Jay Rd and Midland Rd, I observed an Acme Brick Freightliner hauling a flatbed containing brick pallets. The vehicle was in violation of county ordinance 74-8 as it is larger than a class 5 local truck and signs are clearly posted at the heads of Midland Rd and Blue Jay Rd.I stopped the truck and spoke with the driver, Willie Fears. Fears stated he was coming from Pooler and was heading to Courthouse Rd. I informed Fears that if he is making a delivery on Courthouse Rd then he should have used Hwy 17 to access Courthouse Rd as it connects directly to avoid being in violation of ordinance 74-8. Fears disagreed with this and became argumentative.I had Fears exit the vehicle and I issued him a summons for violation of ordinance 74-8. Fears became disorderly and started cussing and hollering at me telling me he wasn’t signing anything and rushing through my duties. Deputy Ballard had other drivers in ear shot of the confrontation. Fears was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct.Once in handcuffs, Fears refused to enter the backseat of a patrol car stating he wouldn’t fit. Eventually, he fit and was transported by Deputy Ballard to the Effingham County Jail where he was booked without incident.The truck Fears was driving was towed by Rahn’s Wrecker Service.This concludes my involvement.[End of Narrative].
