I Deputy McBrier responded to 1096 Bullsboro Dr. in reference to a Verbal Dispute.
When I arrived on scene I spoke to Neil Williams an employee of Academy Sports. Neil stated that a car with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] drove by while he was collecting buggies from the parking lot. Neil stated that someone from the car said “get those buggies good boy”. Neil then said that he walked inside and the people from the car were saying they “were going to beat his as” and calling him a “niger”. Neil then stated that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] then went to come inside the store and was yelling at him. Neil stated that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was annoying him and he chased [REDACTED BY AGENCY] back to the car. Neil said that he did not put his hands on [REDACTED BY AGENCY] at all. Neil also said that [REDACTED BY AGENCY]’s shoes came off when he was running away. Neil said that he took the shoes and brought them inside with him and placed them behind the counter. Neil said that a group of people who were later identified as Isaiah Fuller, Landan Chastain and Rylan Haire then came into the store saying they were going to beat him up. I also talked to a witness [WITNESS ] who told me the same thing.
I then talked with Isaiah, Landan, Rylan and [WITNESS ]. They stated that they were driving around the parking lot when [REDACTED BY AGENCY] rolled down the window and said “push those carts, good boy”. They stated that when they did this that Neil came up and hit there car with a buggie. They said that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] then went inside to talk to a manager and when he did Neil chased him out of the store. They said that Neil had grabbed [REDACTED BY AGENCY] by his hoodie and when [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was running away that his shoes fell off. They said that Neil then took his shoes and brought them inside and wouldn’t give them back.
One of the Witness’s [WITNESS ] who was involved in the incident took a video with her phone. In the video it shows Neil chasing [REDACTED BY AGENCY] through the parking lot. It also shows Neil grabbing [REDACTED BY AGENCY]’s hoodie. Also while [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was running back to the car his shoe’s came off and it then shows Neil grabbing [REDACTED BY AGENCY]’s shoes and taking them inside and the video ended.
Isaiah, Landan, Rylan and [WITNESS ] said that they called Landan to come over because someone was threatning to fight Rylan his younger step brother. When Landan arrived they then went to go in the store and another Academy employee locked the entrance door. Isaiah then said that because the employee locked the entrance door that he pryed open the exit door with his hands. The group of people then went into the store and approached Neil behind the Customer Service counter. They said they told Neil to give [REDACTED BY AGENCY]’s shoes back.
The witness [WITNESS ] said that while they were in there Isaiah, Landan and Rylan were cussing at Neil and said they were using the hard R word. [WITNESS ] also stated that they were all saying that they were going to beat his as. The other witness [WITNESS ] who is a manager at Academy Sports was behind the Gun Bar which is on a completely different side of the store and heard the commotion and came to the front customer service desk. [WITNESS ] stated that Isaiah, Landan, Rylan and Neil were all yelling and cussing at each other. [WITNESS ] said that she heard Isaiah say to Neil that “I will beat your as big boy”. [WITNESS ] also said that she heard Landan tell Neil that “I will beat your a*s”.
Neil, Rylan, Landan and Isaiah were all told to turn around and place their hands behind their hands behind their back and that they were under arrest.
BWC activated during these events. Nothing Further to Report.
Neil, Isaiah, Landan and Rylan were all transported to the Coweta County Detention Center and turned over to Detention Center Staff.
Neil was also an Offender but could not be added due to IBR errors.
Neil was charged with Terroristic threats and acts (M).
Rylan was charged with Terroristic threats and acts (M).
Landan was charged with Disorderly Conduct.
Isaiaha was charged with Terroristic Threats and acts (M).
