Discretion is advised.]On September 17, 2024, at 7:57 AM, I responded to the area of 1135 Highway 92 to meet with a person involved in a Hit and Run. Based on the caller’s description of the vehicle, Sgt. Rubio and I ran the tag provided, GA tag# [REDACTED]. Sgt. Rubio called the registered owner, [REDACTED]. [REDACTED] stated he was at work but he would figure out who drove his car and meet me at the caller’s location.Upon arriving, I met with the caller, [VICTIM #1], who informed me he was traveling southbound on I-75 just south of exit 277. [VICTIM #1] explained his vehicle, 2022 Nissan Sentra (TN tag# [REDACTED]), was behind a silver Honda Civic (GA tag# [REDACTED]). Both vehicles were stopped in traffic. The Honda began rolling backward toward [VICTIM #1]’s vehicle. When the vehicle was approximately 3 feet away, [VICTIM #1] blew his horn at the Honda. The Honda did not stop and rolled back into the front of [VICTIM #1]’s car. [VICTIM #1] stated the driver threw his hands up and then drove off. [VICTIM #1] stated he followed the vehicle south trying to signal the driver, a Hispanic male, to pull over. When the male did not pull over, [VICTIM #1] turned around and called in the hit and run.After taking photos of [VICTIM #1]’s vehicle and gathering his information, [REDACTED] arrived. [REDACTED] stated his cousin, Nino Alberto Santizo Velasquez, was driving his car and was coming back to meet with me. When Alberto arrived, he stated he did not believe he hit [VICTIM #1]’s car and all he knew was [VICTIM #1] was honking at him. I looked at the Honda and there was a line on the rear bumper consistent with the grill from [VICTIM #1]’s car.I asked Alberto for his driver’s license and he presented an “International Driver’s License” with his current address in Cartersville. Alberto also confirmed he has been living in Georgia for two years.After gathering information on both parties and releasing [VICTIM #1] from the scene. I informed Alberto his driver’s license is not valid and he was under arrest for driving with no license. I handcuffed him behind his back, checked for proper fit, and double-locked to prevent injury. I placed Alberto in the back seat of my vehicle and released the Honda to [REDACTED].I transported Alberto to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center. Once at the jail, custody of Alberto was transferred to jail deputies. Before leaving the jail, I searched my back seat and found no contraband.[End of Narrative].
