On December 17th, 2024
, at 11:55 hours, I responded to assist multiple Savannah Police Traffic units at 3201 Montgomery Street (Mikes Time Saver) regarding an aggravated assault investigation.
Upon arrival, I observed numerous Officers being yelled at by a group of disorderly females. The females continued to state their sister had been attacked but would not elaborate on what occurred. I managed to speak to one of these females identified as [WITNESS ]. [WITNESS ] advised her sister, [VICTIM ], had been struck with a hammer by another female in front of the Mikes Time Saver Store. [WITNESS ] was not on scene when the incident occurred only arriving afterwards.
I spoke briefly to [VICTIM ] who was receiving medical attention in the back of an ambulance. [VICTIM ] advised she had gone to the Time Saver and confronted the female (unknown name) about a possible theft incident that had occurred the prior day. [VICTIM ] stated the female then produced a hammer and began to strike her with it. I observed a large abrasion on [VICTIM ]’s head as well as multiple teeth knocked out of her mouth still openly bleeding
I reviewed CCTV footage from outside Mikes Time Saver to see if the incident was captured. In the video, [VICTIM ] can be viewed briefly speaking to the black female suspect who is seen wearing blue pants and a white/grey top. The pair begin to grapple with one another when the female produces a hammer with a gloved hand and strikes [VICTIM ] in the face with it. The female can be seen striking [VICTIM ] on the ground with the hammer numerous times in the head, face, and back area. The female then grabs [VICTIM ] by the hair and begins to drag her. Footage was collected and uploaded by Forensics.
I spoke to a male witness who wished to remain anonymous. The male stated he intervened when he saw the female striking [VICTIM ] with the hammer and managed to get it from her grasp. He was unable to advise where the hammer went only that “someone” must have “drove off” with it.
I assisted in setting up a crime scene and maintaining a crime scene log.
This concludes my involvement.
