On August 19th, 2024
I (Ofc. Tabor) responded to a welfare check at 100 Blue Moon Crossing (Noble Roots) in reference to a 2yr old sleeping on the concrete. Upon arrival We made with Mrs. [WITNESS ] (complainant [REDACTED BY AGENCY]) and Ms. [WITNESS ] (witness [REDACTED BY AGENCY]). They were standing with the child wearing a pink shirt and pink shorts wrapped in a white sweater. Upon speaking to Mrs. [WITNESS ] she stated that the child had told her she had been sleeping out there all night. Cpl Barella called for additional resources. We attempted to talk to the child and was able to get her name as [VICTIM ]. We also learned that she was hungry and thirsty. Ofc. Gancarcik gave her some Chik fil a and I gave her a bottle of water. We tried to gather more information such as who her parents were, and where she lived. Due to her age she was not able to give us the information.
EMS 55 arrived on scene and did a medical assessment of the child. While waiting for a child safety seat Mrs. [WITNESS ] showed back up on scene with a bag that had some snacks and a couple of bottles of juice for the child.
While waiting for further instructions myself and Ofc. Gancarcik watched the child. She was given a blanket to wrap up in and a stuffed tiger to play with. Once Lt. Self arrived on scene the child safety seat was placed in his vehicle. We then loaded the child into the car seat. Myself and Lt. Self then transported her to the police department. While at the police department we learned that the child’s name was [VICTIM ]. Cpl. Barella notified The Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS). CID was notified as well.
