While on uniform patrol in the City of Port Wentworth, I was dispatched to City Hall following a report of an individual desecrating the exterior walls of the building.
Upon arrival at City Hall, I observed feces and urine on the outside walls. A clerk at City Hall provided access to video surveillance footage, which captured a white male with a slim frame and blonde hair committing the act. Later, other officers spotted an individual matching the suspect’s description standing on the corner of SR-21 N and O’Leary holding a sign and asking for money. I was notified that this individual was likely the same suspect involved in the City Hall incident. Upon approaching him, the individual refused to provide his name and exhibited signs of mental incoherence based on his responses. He was detained pending further verification.
The individual was positively identified as the suspect through video surveillance. Following identification, he was placed under arrest, ed, handcuffed with a double lock, and placed in the back of my patrol vehicle. Additional Charges: Disorderly Conduct, Soliciting without a Permit both are City Ordnances. The suspect was transported to the Chatham County Detention Center (CCDC) and handed over to the custody of the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).
