On 09/10/24 at 1834 hours PTR Marc and PTO Epperson responded to a hit and run on E Montgomery Cross Rd/ Edge Water RD.
We arrived on the scene at approximately 1848 hours. The first was ([VICTIM ]) the complainant. [VICTIM ] was driving a white Honda (vehicle two). He stated he was traveling west on Montgomery Cross RD when he was hit in the rear. [VICTIM ]’s vehicle suffered minor damage. The damage was a dent on the back center left of the vehicle.
Vehicle two was a Black Chevy Blazer. The driver was identified as (Marvin Hewitt). Hewitt had two other passengers. Husband ([WITNESS ]) and wife ([WITNESS ]).
The driver of vehicle one (Marvin Hewitt) got out with one passenger ([WITNESS ]). This was believed to be an attempt to exchange information. [VICTIM ] was able to get pictures of Marvin’s tag and a picture of Marvin near his vehicle. [VICTIM ] stated Marvin abruptly got in his car and left the scene with [WITNESS ] his passenger behind. He also stated Marvin made a left at a red light on Edge Water Rd. He also said on multiple occasions that Marvin seemed drunk.
[WITNESS ] who was Marvin’s passenger was at the scene when we arrived. He stated he, Marvin, and his wife were at the Captain’s Lounge (8414 Waters Ave) drinking. He says when they left Captain Lounge Marvin hit [VICTIM ]’s car and left him at the scene. He also stated the wife was still in the car when Marvin left the scene. He also implied that Marvin was intoxicated. We later gave [WITNESS ] a ride to [300 BLOCK] Paradise Dr.
Upon arrival at [300 BLOCK] Paradise Dr, we made with [WITNESS ] Marvin’s other passenger. [WITNESS ] was visibly upset. [WITNESS ] stated they were all at the Captain’s lounge. She also said on the way back they hit a car, and Marvin later fled the scene. She also implied Marvin was intoxicated.
We next went to the of Marvin at [100 BLOCK] Hampstead. When questioned Marvin denied driving. He states he was at drinking. Marving also denied hitting any car. Later we confirmed Marvin’s vehicle near the scene on Flock. Marvin presented as intoxicated. His face was flushed red, eyes glossy. Marvin also couldn’t stand without leaning on the wall. Marvin also had slurred speech. At Marvin’s vehicle, we found multiple scratches. The scratch marks looked like white paint transfer. These marks were on the left and right side of the front bumper.
Multiple corroborating statements, witnesses, pictures, and Flock evidence placed Marvin at the scene. I arrested Marvin for Reckless Driving (O.C.G.A 40-6-390), Hit and Run (O.C.G.A 4-6-270), Following Too Closely (O.C.G.A 40-6-49).
Marvin was then placed under arrest and I put him in hand cuffs. Before being placed in my vehicle Marvin was ed. He had a wallet and some pocket change. Marvin was then transported to Memorial Medical Center (4700 waters Ave). Hospital personnel cleared his release. I then transferred Marvin to CCDC (1050 Carl Griffin Dr)
