On August 21, 2024
, at approximately 1647 hours, I responded to a domestic call at Grainger Nissan located at 1550 Chatham Pkwy. Upon arrival, [VICTIM ] was being treated by EMS for injuries and requested not to be transported to the hospital.
According to [VICTIM ]’s statement, at approximately 1150 to 1230 hours, she was going to the bank located at 136 Bull St in downtown Savannah. She is not from the area and was receiving directions from her boyfriend, Marquise Lee. The directions given by her boyfriend were poor, leading to a verbal altercation. He became disrespectful, causing her to be upset and she instructed him to get out of the her car. While driving, her boyfriend put the car in park and snatched the keys from the ignition.
According to [VICTIM ]’s statement, Marquise Lee then proceeded to go to a Parkers near downtown, identified as 222 Drayton St based on map re, to obtain a bag from an unknown individual. When he returned and attempted to place the bag in the car, [VICTIM ] objected. During the ongoing incident, Marquise Lee retained her keys. When [VICTIM ] tried to retrieve her keys, she was struck in the mouth, causing her inner bottom lip to bleed, exacerbated by her teeth braces.
According to [VICTIM ]’s statement, she did not know if she was hit with an open or closed hand as the strike happened quickly. After being hit, she was strangled with both hands, leaving marks on her neck, although she did not pass out.
Upon checking Marquise Lee’s details in the CAD system, I found he had a warrant out of Hinesville for contempt of court. Sgt Tupac, my supervisor, responded to the scene as well as Detective Purdee.
The location of the incident was determined to be approximately 0.5 miles away from 136 Bull St Wells Fargo. [VICTIM ] was given a CRN and was advised on obtaining a TPO and the process of evicting Marquise Lee through the court system.
I was unable to determine an accurate location of where the incident happened.
