On September 19th, 2024
@ 1423hrs, I responded to an accident with injuries at Pooler Parkway and St Joesph Candler Dr.
Upon my arrival, Cpl Witherington was on-scene accessing for injuries between the two vehicles.
Cpl Witherington advised the driver of the at-fault vehicle disclosed the driver of the vehicle she collided with left the scene on foot, walking towards Lowes. The description was a tall black male, wearing American flag shorts and a backpack. The other occupant, Marcus Jenkins, was still on scene with the vehicle.
Cpl Witherington asked Mr. Jenkins about the other individual and he told her that he was the driver. Mr. Jenkins claimed he was the only person in the vehicle.
Upon observing the interior of the vehicle, I noticed two full McDonald’s cups with condensation. Due to my experience, I believed Mr. Jenkins was being deceitful with the information he was giving. Mr. Jenkins seemed to be very nervous and kept messing around in the interior of the vehicle. Therefore, I requested he step away from the vehicle during remainder of the investigation.
I advised Mr. Jenkins he needed to cooperate with the investigation of the accident, and he told me he did not know the individual that left. Mr. Jenkins told me he just picked him up from Lowes because he asked for a ride.
I asked Mr. Jenkins the name of the individual and he stated, “Cameron Reid” Mr. Jenkins would not disclose any more information about the occupant in the vehicle. Mr. Jenkins was placed under arrest for obstruction, in double-locked handcuffs for proper fit.
Ofc. Levasseur located the male, Mr. Terrence Reed, at Morgan’s Corner and transported him back to the accident scene. Mr. Reed stated he “left the scene because he is a black male, and he knew how things would go.” Mr. Reed stated he was Mr. Jenkins’s cousin. Mr. Reed was placed under arrest in double-locked handcuffs for proper fit and placed in the rear of Ofc. Levasseur’s patrol vehicle.
Upon inventory of the vehicle, a handgun was located between the driver’s seat and the center console. An additional handgun was located in Mr. Reed’s backpack, along with an open bottle of Crown Royal.
TAC Operator, [REDACTED], advised Mr. Reed had active warrants through Clayton Co with full extradition. Clayton Co. requested to place a hold on Mr. Reed.
Ofc. Levasseur and I transported Mr. Reed and Mr. Jenkins to Memorial for a medical clearance due to the accident. It should be noted that neither had complaints of injuries. Both individuals were then transported to CCDC without incident.
Mr. Reed received citations for obstruction, leaving the scene of an accident, and open container. Mr. Jenkins received a citation for obstruction.
Both parties received a $1,000 bond with a City of Pooler court date of November 14th, 2024
, at 10 am. Both firearms were logged into evidence locker 002 for safekeeping. Mr. Reed and Mr. Jenkins received property receipts.
