Discretion is advised.]On Sunday 03-09-2015 at 1650 hours I responded to Enmarket located at 4230 Augusta Road, Garden City, Chatham County, Georgia 31408 to back up Ofc Smith with a hit and run subject.Upon arrival, I approached the suspect vehicle with Ofc Smith and assisted James Hollaway out of his vehicle. I placed James in handcuffs, double locked, and sat him in the rear compartment of Ofc Smith’s patrol vehicle. While getting James out of the vehicle I noticed James could hardly walk on his own, Ofc Smith and I had to hold him up while walking to the patrol vehicle. I also noticed James’s speech was extremely slurred to the point where I couldn’t understand most of what he was saying. James also looked disoriented and confused.I then left Enmarket to check on the two vehicles James had struck. After completing the information exchange form, I went back to Enmarket. I then transported James to the Garden City Police Department for the State blood draw to be completed by the Garden City Fire Department. I was then informed that the State blood test could not be completed because James was allergic to iodine. Ofc Ikner then transported James from the Garden City Police Department to Memorial Hospital to be medically cleared. James was medically cleared and brought to Chatham County Detention Center for booking.James was cited for Hit and Run, DUI combo, failure to maintain lane, following too closely, and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. James was given a bond of $6,000 per Judge Moody. James was given copies of his citations, arraignment waiver, and insurance information exchange.Handcuffs were placed behind his back, double-locked, and checked for proper fit. He was then placed in the back seat of my patrol vehicle. The shoulder and lap belt were used while in the back compartment.
