Discretion is advised.]On Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at approximately 01:30 hours, I, Officer Orzechowski, was dispatched to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Magnolia Acres in reference to a possible domestic in progress. Upon arrival, I activated my body camera, knocked on the door multiple times, and made with the complainant, Miss LaRhonda Lowery. Prior to making with Miss Lowery, I noticed some blood on the front patio and sidewalk of apartment [REDACTED]. Once Miss Lowery opened the door of the residence, which belonged to Miss Alexus Sims, I observed a significant amount of blood throughout the residence on the floor, walls, and doors. I called for EMA and cleared the residence, ensuring the offender was not on the scene and making the area safe for EMA.Miss Lowery stated that she and Miss Sims had gotten into an altercation earlier in the night in Augusta, which continued throughout the night until the incident occurred. Upon the arrival of Miss [REDACTED], who had been called to the scene by Miss Alexus Sims, Miss Lowery pulled Miss [REDACTED] from the vehicle by her hair and hit her repeatedly. Video evidence shows that while Miss Lowery and Miss [REDACTED] were fighting, Miss Sims ran up to the vehicle and stabbed Miss Lowery multiple times. Miss Lowery claimed that Miss [REDACTED] stabbed her with a knife. However, video evidence confirmed that Miss Alexus Sims was responsible. Miss Lowery sustained a large laceration on her face and another on her hand, both requiring multiple stitches. Miss Lowery did admit to provoking Miss [REDACTED] as soon as she arrived on the scene.While speaking with Miss Lowery, Dispatch received a call from Miss [REDACTED] and Miss Sims, who had left the scene of the incident. Officers responded and stopped Miss Sims and Miss [REDACTED] on Waters Street. The knife used to stab Miss Lowery was located in the rear hatch of Miss [REDACTED]’s 2017 Lexus NX, tag number [REDACTED]. Both individuals were read their Miranda rights prior to being questioned. Both individuals had blood on their hands and clothing. The children, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] were in the back seat when the vehicle was stopped. Both agreed to speak with officers.Grandparents came to pick up Miss Sims’s children, Miss [REDACTED BY AGENCY] [JUVENILE ] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] [JUVENILE ], ages three and five. Once the grandparents had the children, officers transported Miss Sims and Miss [REDACTED] back to the scene of the incident. Investigator Baughman and I first questioned Miss [REDACTED]. Miss [REDACTED] stated that she didn’t know how Miss Lowery got the cuts, only that Miss Lowery initiated the altercation.Miss [REDACTED] was questioned after being read her Miranda rights. Miss [REDACTED] stated she did not know how the knife ended up in the backseat of her vehicle. She mentioned she did not know what happened between Miss Sims and Miss Lowery or where the knife came from. She later admitted that Miss Sims jumped in the car and threw the knife in the backseat, with Miss Sims stating, “Go drive.”Miss Sims was then questioned separately after being read her Miranda rights. Miss Sims repeatedly stated that she did not know how Miss Lowery got the cuts on her face and hands. Miss Sims stated that she hopped in the vehicle after the fight was over and tossed the knife in the backseat because she saw it there. Miss Sims did not have any visible marks on her from the mentioned altercations with Miss Lowery.Miss Lowery was visited at the hospital to check on her. She was advised she would also face charges of battery and cruelty to children in the third degree and would need to turn herself in once she recovers from her injuries.Miss Sims was taken to the Burke County Detention Center and charged with two counts of cruelty to children in the third degree and one count of aggravated assault (felony).
