Dispatch advised me that the victim was put out of the offenders vehicle in the area of the high school and that the offender continued towards the city of Nahunta.My self and the city officer went in that direction but could not locate the truck. Once I got to where the victim was at I asked her to tell me what happened. She stated that she and the offender had been living together for some time and that she and the offender went to Waycross together. She stated that on the way home, the offender told her that he was going to go to the bar in Nahunta and talk to a waitress that he seen up there. She stated that she took the beer that he was drinking and poured it on him. She stated that is when he hit her in the face. I could see that the victims left eye was swollen and that her upper lip was busted. When the victim talked it sounded like the victims nose was stopped up from blood. The victim stated that she had some of her family coming to pick her up. Deputy Finkin stayed with the victim until her family arrived while myself and the city officer tried to locate the offender.Some time after the call the city officer spotted the truck and made a traffic stop on it. I asked the city officer to hold the vehicle until I arrived to speak with him. When I arrived, I saw the offender standing at the back of his vehicle. I could see that the offender was unsteady on his feet and that his eyes were glassy and bloodshot. I could also smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person.I asked the offender what happened with the victim and he stated that it was just a verbal argument and that it never got physical. I asked the offender if he had been drinking and he stated that he had 2 beer and 2 shots at Cypress Creek restaurant in Waycross and then after the altercation he stopped by a friends residence and drank 2 more beer. I then asked the offender if he would submit to a field breath test and he said yes. The breath test did show the presence of alcohol in his system. I then read implied consent from the green card and asked for a blood sample which he declined. The offender was then transported to the Brantley Jail and turned over to jail staff.[End of Narrative].
