On July 1, 2024
, at approximately 0153 hours, I, Deputy Grooms was dispatched to Hunters Run Apartments located at [6000 BLOCK] Thomaston Road Apartment [REDACTED] in reference to a person shot.
Upon my arrival, I made with victim Ms. [VICTIM ], who advised there was gunshots entry hole in her bedroom window. She was awakened to the sounds of gunshots and believed the gunshots possibly came from inside the upstairs apartment [REDACTED]. Mr. [WITNESS ] was a guest of Ms. [VICTIM ], who was present at the time of the incident. There were no reported injuries. The victim later identified as Mr. [VICTIM ] had left to go to the hospital by private vehicle. Mr. [VICTIM ] went to Atrium Health Navicent to receive treatment for his gunshot wound.
Sergeant Stokes responded to Atrium Health Navicent to meet with Mr. [VICTIM ]. I responded up stairs to apartment [REDACTED]. While walking upstairs to the apartment, I notice a red substance on the stairs that appeared to be blood leading to apartment [REDACTED]. I knocked on the door, and there were approximately four occupants inside of the residence. Mr. [WITNESS ] advised he was outside near the volleyball court area when he noticed male subjects walking in the area that appeared to be casings the area. He then heard sounds of gunshots. He could not provide a clothing description of the suspects. Mr. [REDACTED], Mr. [REDACTED], and Ms. Aniyah Johnson were in the bedroom at the time of the incident.
There were approximately 15 shell casings located in the parking lot. Crime scene tape was placed up around the incident location. Investigator Bridger was notified and responded to the scene.
The shell casings were collected to be entered in the crime lab as evidence. Sgt. Sampson had a projectile he collected from Ms. [VICTIM ].
I collected the projectile from Sergeant Sampson to be entered in the crime lab as evidence.
A copy of this report was emailed to Investigator Bridger for further investigation.
