On 9/11/2024
at approximately 2139 hours, I, Deputy Jonah Gordon 2748, responded to [3300 BLOCK] Thunderbird Rd in reference to a demented person. The call notes indicated a male at the location said a 25 year old female was “out of control” and needed to be removed from the residence. The call notes also reflected that the female called dispatch and stated she needed to go to River’s Edge to get her medication.
I arrived on scene and observed a female, identified as Tiandrhya Jackson, on the porch talking very loudly on the phone. I attempted to speak with her, but she was very irate and talking very fast. I attempted multiple times to tell her to calm down and stop screaming. She stated her grandfather, identified as [VICTIM ], hit her in the hit with a stick. She later said it was a bat. I observed a bloody cut on the top left side of her forehead.
I attempted to ask her about her mental state, and why the notes reflected she needed to go to River’s Edge, but she denied any mental problems, and stated she did not want any kind of medical treatment.
Sgt. Stanley Sampson arrived on scene and stoodby with Tiandrhya. I went inside and spoke with Tiandrhya’s grandparents, [VICTIM ] (79 years old) and [VICTIM ] (77 years old). [VICTIM ] has dementia, so I did not speak with her at length. [VICTIM ] also uses a walker to walk.
[VICTIM ] stated that they were all in the den area of the residence. [VICTIM ] and Tiandrhya were having a verbal argument over [VICTIM ]’s phone. [VICTIM ] said [VICTIM ] told Tiandrhya to shut up, and Tiandrhya became angry and charged at [VICTIM ]. [VICTIM ] said he got between them so Tiandrhya would not hurt [VICTIM ]. When [VICTIM ] did this, Tiandrhya pushed [VICTIM ], and he fell down on the couch. [VICTIM ] stated he either hit or pushed Tiandrhya, and she fell and hit her head on the table by the couch. That is how she got the cut on her head.
I returned outside to Tiandrhya and attempted to convince her to go to the hospital, because I believed she was having a mental health crisis. After several attempts, Tiandrhya refused to leave or go to the hospital. I told her if she did not leave, she would be arrested for simple battery family violence. After numerous attempts to have her leave the residence, Tiandrhya still refused.
I attempted to place Tiandrhya under arrest with handcuffs. I went to grab her arm, and she pulled her arm away from me. Sgt. Sampson and I had to push her against the rail of the porch, and force her hands behind her back. I was able to forcibly place her in handcuffs. I attempted to walk her to my patrol car, however she continued to push and pull against me while screaming. She was still on her feet, but I had to physically pull her to my patrol vehicle. Once at the backseat of my patrol vehicle, she refused to get in. She continued to hold her body upright, and I repeatedly told her to stop resisting and to get in the vehicle. Sgt. Sampson stated we would have to place her in his vehicle, because his doorway is larger, and we would be able to get her in his vehicle easier. Sgt. Sampson went to his car to make room for her, and I attempted to pull Tiandrhya to Sgt. Sampson’s vehicle. Tiandrhya continued to pull away from me and resisted me taking her to the car. She said she was not getting in any vehicle. I attempted to pull her head down to gain her compliance, but when I did, she fell forward and hit her head on the ground. I called for EMS to respond to the scene to check on her. She continued to sit on the ground waiting for EMS. Throughout the entirety of trying to get her in the vehicle, she screamed loudly, causing neighbors to be disturbed and come outside.
EMS arrived on scene and stated she was not injured from hitting her head on the ground. Tiandrhya’s aunt and cousins came to the location and attempted to calm her down. She refused to stand up, and Sgt. Sampson and myself had to pull her to her feet and walk her to the backseat of Sgt. Sampson’s patrol vehicle. She was secured in the vehicle, and Sgt. Sampson transported her to the jail.
I remained on scene to speak with [VICTIM ] further about the incident. While on scene, I overheard [VICTIM ] and Tiandrhya’s aunt (I did not get her name) state that this is not the first time Tiandrhya has attempted to attack [VICTIM ], and she tried to do so in a vehicle on 9/9/2024
. I also heard them state that due to [VICTIM ]’s dementia, she keeps letting Tiandrhya back into the residence.
[VICTIM ] was provided a case number. Tiandrhya will be charged with simple battery family violence for pushing [VICTIM ], two counts of obstruction of law enforcement for obstructing myself and Sgt. Sampson, and disorderly conduct for acting in a tumultuous manner, disturbing the neighbors while deputies attempted to place her in the car. Warrants will be obtained for the appropriate charges at a later time.
