On Thursday, September 19, 2024
at approximately 1022 hours. I Sgt. D. Inzar responded to Wendy’s located at 6040 Zebulon Rd. in reference to a possible domestic dispute and welfare check on the children located at [REDACTED BY AGENCY]
The call notes advised. The mother of the children state that her boyfriend and father of her children Kyle David Rogers was hurting the children and could be heard striking the children over the phone. Upon my arrival on scene. I made with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] She was visibly upset and appeared to be afraid and shaking.
She advised that her boyfriend has been beating her and the children over the last several weeks and things have really escalated this week. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] had multiple bruises and bite marks throughout her body to include arms, legs and ankles. She states that Kyle is a biter and that is what he does to them.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] further states. She was able to leave the house this morning and come to work and upon her arrival. She called law enforcement for assistance. She called from the phone in the managers office while speaking with Kyle on her cell phone. The subject could be heard striking the child over the speaker phone. She asked him why was he hurting her children in which he responded that he was going to kill everyone in the house.
I then instructed Cpl. C. Collis to standby at the [REDACTED BY AGENCY] address prior to making with the subject due to him being aware that law enforcement was outside of the . He asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] why was the police at the house. Upon gathering further information from [REDACTED BY AGENCY] She states that Kyle accuses her of having relationships with other men and becomes angry. She also stated that he punched her son last night and knocked his tooth out and split the child’s lip in two places.
I transported [REDACTED BY AGENCY] back to the [REDACTED BY AGENCY] address and upon our arrival. She unlocked the front door to allow us access to the due to Mr. Rogers refusing to unlock or come to the door when called. Upon making entry. We identified ourselves as law enforcement in a loud and clear voice while giving instructions to show himself. The subject emerged from the kitchen area while stating that he was unarmed and hands raised in the air. The subject was quickly detained with mechanical restraints. Upon scanning the I did observe very little furniture in the and no sign of any beds.
The subject was asked the whereabouts of the children. We observed the children in a rear bedroom. The male child identified as [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was laying on a small mat in a rear bedroom. The child appeared to be lifeless and his body was covered with bruises and what appeared to be burn marks. The female child identified as [REDACTED BY AGENCY] torso was covered with bruises and she had teeth marks imprinted on her back.
Cpl. Collis notified EMS to respond to the scene quickly as well as crimes against children investigations. I escorted Kyle Rogers to my patrol vehicle with the assistance of Cpl. Collis. The subject began to yell and scream and refused to walk under his own power.
The subject had to be physically assisted into the patrol vehicle and once inside. He began to bang his head against the window and divider partition of my vehicle. This action caused him to bleed from the forehead and he began to complain of chest pains.
