On 8/27/2024
, at approximately 17:00 hrs, I responded to SL Sausage on Zebulon Road for a hit-and-run accident. Upon arrival, I spoke with a blue Toyota Camry driver, tag #[REDACTED], identified as [VICTIM ]. She stated she was traveling south on Bass Road near Riovli Road. She said that a red Honda Civic had been tailgating her for miles but couldn’t go faster because traffic was in front of her. According to her, the red Civic almost rear-ended her numerous times.
After braking, the red Honda Civic swerved around her in a no-passing zone, pulled up next to her, threw his hands up, swerved into her lane, hit her, and took off. She tried to follow him, but the light at Bass Road and Rivoli turned red, so she stopped, but he ran it. A witness, [WITNESS ], behind the Camry, had a dashcam and captured the entire incident on video. The sequence of events the Camry driver described exactly happened in the video. The video shows the red car tailgating the Camry, swerving to its left into oncoming traffic, ramming the Camry off the road, and then taking off. Mr. [WITNESS ] said he followed the red Civic to Kroger on Zebulon, where a white male driver got out. He said the driver was wearing a blue shirt and dark pants. He said the driver got out, started taking pictures of his car (the witness), and then got back in his car. The witness and Camry driver gave me the tag number [REDACTED]. A check of the tag through GCIC showed it was registered with Kamron Johnson of Macon. The man in the picture was a slender white male that matched what the witness said. I showed the witness the DL picture of Mr. Johnson, and he said he was the Civic driver. I gave the victim a case card and reviewed the dashcam again.
Later that day, I took out three warrants for Mr. Johnson: Hit and Run, Aggressive Driving, and Improper Passing. A check of the Flock Camera showed the red Civic pass Rivoli Rd on Bass Road. In the picture, I could see the white driver had short brown hair and a blue shirt. I suspected he may work there because the driver pulled into Kroger wearing a blue shirt. After the warrants were taken, I went to Kroger on Zebulon, where I located the Civic parked in the parking lot with damage to the passenger side.
I then called for a unit to assist me in serving the warrants. Deputy Palmer responded. I entered the store and located the driver, Kamron Johnson, working at a register. I walked up to him and told him I needed to speak with him and get someone to cover his register so we could walk outside. Once outside, I told Mr. Johnson why I was there and that he was under arrest. I placed the driver in handcuffs and ed him incident to arrest. Mr. Johnson was placed in the rear of my patrol car and seatbelted in. I secured his property, a cell phone, his wallet, and his license in my front seat. I requested a tow truck to the scene, and Ackerman responded. The vehicle was towed, and I transported Mr. Johson to the Bibb County LEC without incident, where he was booked on outstanding warrants.
