On 8/26/24 at approximately 1112, I was dispatched to [700 BLOCK] Tidewater Cir [REDACTED] in reference to a domestic disturbance.
I made with [VICTIM ] in the leasing office. She stated that the previous evening her boyfriend and child’s father, Jason Chatman, held a gun to her head, took her keys, and cellphone before leaving his car with the phone and keys, telling her that she was not allowed to leave. She stated the he had strangled her with one hand and poured hot tap water over her and their baby, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] while they were sitting in bed. Neither had any visible bruises or marks. The bed was still wet, as well as a blanket near the bed. Ms. [VICTIM ] stated that she caught him cheating and confronted him about it and he became angry.
Mr. Chatman was taken into custody inside the apartment without incident. 4 guns, 3 handguns and a rifle, were taken from the apartment and will be entered into the crime lab. Dispatch ran Mr. Chatman’s criminal history, which returned no felony convictions. Mr. Chatman was advised by the property manager not to return to the property without a deputy. He was transported to the Bibb LEC.
Ms. [VICTIM ]’s phone and keys were not located in the apartment, she believes that he disposed of them when he left the apartment last night. Ms. [VICTIM ] stated that Mr. Chatman has not let her leave their apartment for 3 days. She was notified of services with the crisis line and safe house.
