On July 31, 2024
, at approximately 1805 hours, I, Lieutenant Santel Smith, responded to the Atrium Navicent Medical Center’s Emergency Entry in reference to a report of a person shot.
Upon my arrival, I observed a black male being treated by medical personnel. While attempting to ascertain details from the victim, he stated that he was shot at Pinewood Park Apartments. Efforts to gather further information were interrupted as family members began to arrive on the scene.
To ensure the safety and integrity of the scene, I established a perimeter and coordinated with medical staff to allow them to continue their work while maintaining evidence security.
This incident is currently under active investigation and has been transferred to the Violent Crime Unit of the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office for further inquiry.
