On August 27, 2024
, at approximately 1100 hours, I was dispatched to 960 Joe Frank Harris Parkway, Piedmont Cartersville, in reference to an assault that had happened on August 26, 2024
at [10 BLOCK] Clear Pass, Adairsville, GA 30103.
Upon arrival, I met with the victim, [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. After speaking with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] she advised me that she met with the suspect, Trevis Williams, on 08-26-2024
at approximately 2000 HRS. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said that they met at the above location as friends.
While speaking with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] it was very apparent that she was uncomfortable speaking with Deputy Lingerfelt and I. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] even stated she was not sure if she wished to tell us anything. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was advised of the process involving law enforcement and that we only wanted to details that she was comfortable giving us. At that time, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] began to tell us that she and Trevis met at her house to smoke marijuana and “chill.” [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated they sat in Trevis’ vehicle, which was described as a dark in color passenger car with and unknown make or model. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated Trevis eventually moved to the back seat and asked her to join him. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she moved to the back seat as well but clearly stated multiple times that she did not wish to engage in sexual activity. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she and Trevis were mutually kissing earlier and she was fine with that but did not wish to advance with sexual activity.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] went on to tell us that Trevis eventually lay her down in the seat and that was as far as she was comfortable to tell us. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated this was still fresh and difficult for her to speak about. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] then stated she had messages on Snapchat from Trevis and that she was willing to show those to me.
Upon seeing the communication between Trevis and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] she made it clear to him that she did not wish to engage in sexual activity the previous night. Trevis also continued to ask her if she would press charges and she stated that she was very uncomfortable when he “put it in.” These messages were photographed on Deputy Lingerfelt’s body-worn camera.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] then asked us to step out of the room so she could speak with a friend in private. While outside, I was able to make with Investigator Phillp Abernathy and make him aware of this incident. Investigator Abernathy did not respond because [REDACTED BY AGENCY] already had an appointment at the Sexual Assault Center (SAC) in Rome, Georgia.
I then re-entered the room with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] where she was given a case number and advised that an investigator would follow up with her. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was then released so she could make her appointment at the SAC.
This case is left active pending the results from the SAC.
