I, Deputy Puckett, was dispatched to [4200 BLOCK] Clark Cir in reference to a physical domestic altercation. While en route, dispatch advised me that the parties were separated.
On scene I spoke with Simmie Thomas. Simmie said that he and his live in girlfriend of 20 years, Jacqueline Hamilton, were the ones involved in the altercation. Simmie said that he had been in the bed trying to rest as he has not been feeling well. Simmie said that Jacqueline got upset about this and an argument erupted.
Simmie said that he went into the yard of the residence in an effort to de-escalate the situation and avoid an altercation. Simmie said that Jacqueline emerged from the residence with a bat and began to advance toward his person. Simmie said that he felt as if he did not take the bat from Jacqueline, he would received bodily harm. Simmie said that he did take the bat from Jacqueline and did strike her with it to stop her advancing on his person.
Jacqueline had fled the scene prior to our arrival. Simmie told me that Jacqueline does not have a working phone. Simmie said that Jacqueline is only able to communicate via Wifi. Simmie also assured me that no one was injured during the altercation.
Jacqueline would later call 911 to speak with a Deputy. Deputy Simmer attempted to her via phone but she did not answer.
I later attempted to speak with Jacqueline via phone. I was unsuccessful in doing so. I was told that Jacqueline was planning to travel to the Sheriff’s Office to file a report in person.
