On Tuesday, July 9, 2024
, at 2310 hours, I was dispatched back to [10 BLOCK] Jenny Lane, in reference to a domestic in progress. Upon arrival, I met with Sharla Stokes.
Sharla advised that [WITNESS ] came back to the residence, where he once again began to physically abuse [WITNESS ]. Sharla advised she observed [WITNESS ] grab [WITNESS ] and pull her into the red 2006 Toyota Corolla, bearing GA tag [REDACTED], he was driving, after she reached into the vehicle to grab a lighter he had taken from her. Sharla proceeded to state that [WITNESS ] exited the vehicle, at which point, she walks to the driver side of the vehicle to check on [WITNESS ]. Sharla advised [WITNESS ] walks back to the driver side, pushes her out of the way, gets into the driver seat, and puts the car into reverse. Sharla advised when [WITNESS ] puts the car into reverse, he hits her with his car door, then leaves the driveway. Sharla further advised that she received a phone call from [WITNESS ], where she was screaming for help, followed by [WITNESS ] stating “get in the back seat before I beat your as”. Due to the nature of the incident Sharla claimed to have occurred, every Bartow County Deputy began ing the area for the red in color Corolla, as well as pinging [WITNESS ]’s cell phone for her location. The reason for pinging her cell phone, was due to her allegedly being kidnapped and possibly in danger. Bartow Dispatch also pinged [WITNESS ]’s cellphone, to confirm he was in the same area was [WITNESS ]’s phone. Deputies received a ping in the area of [700 BLOCK] Spring Place Road, as well as [600 BLOCK] Spring Place Road, with a 800 meter radius. Prior call history under [WITNESS ] placed him at the residence of [40 BLOCK] Kirk Road. I located the red in color Corolla at [40 BLOCK] Kirk Road, along with [WITNESS ] and [WITNESS ]. [WITNESS ] was detained and escorted outside of the residence. Due to [WITNESS ] being in handcuffs and advised he was detained, I read him his Miranda Warning, and he advised he understood and would speak to me. [WITNESS ] advised he had left the residence shortly after I responded for the first domestic. [WITNESS ] advised he returned to pick up [WITNESS ] to take her to somewhere and to talk. [WITNESS ] advised when [WITNESS ] got into the car, Sharla comes walking up, yelling at him. [WITNESS ] advised when he got out of the car, she walked up to him still yelling at him. [WITNESS ] stated he told Sharla he did not want to have any kind of argument with her. [WITNESS ] advised he started to walk down the driveway, then turned around and went back to his vehicle. [WITNESS ] stated Sharla was standing in the door frame of his vehicle, and had to slide by her to get into the driver seat. [WITNESS ] advised Sharla was still standing in the door frame when he put the vehicle into drive. [WITNESS ] stated he knew the door would not hit her because all he had to do was drive forward to be able to close the door. [WITNESS ] advised in no way did he pull or force [WITNESS ] into the car, nor did they have any kind of argument or physical altercation. I spoke to [WITNESS ] inside the residence of [40 BLOCK] Kirk Road. [WITNESS ] advised that [WITNESS ] came back to [10 BLOCK] Jenny Lane, to pick her up to take her to her mother’s house. [WITNESS ] advised she willingly got into the passenger seat of [WITNESS ]’s vehicle and just prior to leaving, she observed Sharla coming out of the car port, yelling at [WITNESS ]. [WITNESS ] advised Sharla was yelling at him stating “I bet you won’t call me a bich” “I bet you won’t hit me”. [WITNESS ] advised [WITNESS ] got out of the driver seat, and had a short argument with Sharla before she told him to get back into the vehicle. [WITNESS ] advised Sharla placed herself in the door frame of the driver side door, telling her to get out of the vehicle. [WITNESS ] told her no, [WITNESS ] was taking her to her mother’s house. [WITNESS ] advised when [WITNESS ] proceeded to drive forward, she hears Sharla yell “he tried to hit me with his car”.
[WITNESS ] advised shortly after they left, Sharla began sending her text messages, to which she screen shot and emailed to my work email. Those messages from Sharla stated things such as; “I’m calling him right now having a warrant out for his arrest” [WITNESS ] responded to the message stating “Please don’t” to which Sharla responds with “Oh, I’m going to I’m done. I’m not gonna stop until he goes to jail”. All of the text messages between Sharla and [WITNESS ] were uploaded into the attachment docs for reference.
Due to the statements made by [WITNESS ] and [WITNESS ] proving the allegation made by Sharla was completely false, resources utilized in locating [WITNESS ] and [WITNESS ], along with text messages, from Sharla stating that she was not going to stop until he was in jail. I responded back to [10 BLOCK] Jenny Lane, where I placed Sharla under arrest for false report of a crime. Sharla was transported to the Bartow County detention center and released to jail staff.
Warrant was secured against Sharla.
