On Monday July 29th, 2024
at approximately 0102 hours I was dispatched to [4400 BLOCK] Joe Frank Harris Pkwy Adairsville, GA 30103 in reference to a domestic disturbance where the female has been assaulted and fled to a neighbors house. Upon arrival the victim Ms. [VICTIM ] was standing near the end of the driveway. She stated she and her boyfriend Mr. Jason Black had been drinking and arguing off and on all evening. She stated around midnight Jason had started arguing with her again and accusing her of cheating. She stated eventually the argument became physical while they were in the kitchen. Jason tackled her to the ground and began punching her with a closed fist in the head and face.
[VICTIM ] stated she tried to protect herself and attempted to get away but Jason followed. The couple ended up in their bedroom where Jason continued punching [VICTIM ]. [VICTIM ] stated she tried to fight back and defend herself and did punch Jason a few times during the struggle. As [VICTIM ] continued to struggle they ended up in the living room and then finally to the bedroom again. Once in the bedroom Jason placed his hands around [VICTIM ]’s throat and began to strangle her. [VICTIM ] stated she thought “this was the end for her” and thought she was going to die. [VICTIM ] begged for Jason to let her go and told him he was hurting her her. Jason lifted his hands up off [VICTIM ] and said “okay you can leave”. That’s when [VICTIM ] took off running down the long driveway with no shoes to the neighbors house.
I looked over [VICTIM ]’s face, head and body and she had two lumps right above her left eye from blunt force trauma. [VICTIM ] also has two lumps directly adjacent to one another on the center of the back of her head. I also observed marks around [VICTIM ]’s throat where she said she had been choked. I photographed [VICTIM ]’s injuries and saved them as evidence.
[VICTIM ] was treated by EMS on scene and was medically cleared. According to [VICTIM ], Jason was most likely still . Myself and other deputies arrived at their residence at [4500 BLOCK] Joe Frank Harris Pkwy. [VICTIM ] allowed deputies inside the residence which was unlocked. I made with Jason inside his bedroom. Jason was lying down on his bed and was taken into custody without incident. Jason was read his Miranda Warning and agreed to speak with me. He stated that [VICTIM ] was the aggressor and had become upset with him and accused him of cheating. He stated [VICTIM ] then began hitting him and he defended himself. In the process of defending himself he may have caused the large lumps on [VICTIM ]’s head. I did not see any injuries to Jason’s body and asked him if he was injured and he said “no”.
I informed Jason he was under arrest for Aggravated Assault FVA and Battery FVA. Jason kept stating he was “the victim” and wanted to press charges. I explained I had probable cause to believe he was the aggressor in the incident. Jason was transported to the Bartow County Jail where custody was handed over to jail staff.
