On Monday, August 19th, 2024
, at 2138 hours, I was dispatched to [1200 BLOCK] Joe Frank Harris Parkway, Apartment [REDACTED], in reference to a domestic in progress.
Upon arrival, I spoke with [VICTIM ]. [VICTIM ] said that he had come back to his residence to gather his belongings but was unable to enter the residence. He said he knocked on the door and his girlfriend, Centavia Hooker answered. He said she began arguing with him and told him to leave, where he said he had to push his way in to gain access to his residence. He said that he and Centavia were arguing about who needed to leave and move out, where he began gathering his belongings, but then said that he believed she was the one who needed to leave the residence.
He said that he grabbed some of Centavia’s belongings during the incident, where Centavia then became physical with him by grabbing his shirt, and [VICTIM ] said he was able to slip out of his shirt. He said that Centavia went over to the dish washer in the residence and grabbed two knives. [VICTIM ] said that he was backing up away from Centavia and she began pushing him again. He said Centavia had also slashed the knives at him and stabbed him during the altercation.
While speaking with [VICTIM ], I observed that he did not have a shirt on, and had a fresh, superficial knife wound on his left arm. [VICTIM ] refused medical treatment.
I then spoke with Centavia. Centavia said that [VICTIM ] had knocked on the door, and she answered. She did say she prevented [VICTIM ] from entering the residence but he pushed his way into the house. She also said that during this time, [VICTIM ] was not aggressive. She said that she and [VICTIM ] had an agreement that she would leave the residence on Friday (suggesting the date of August 13rd, 2024
). She said that [VICTIM ] had grabbed some of her property during the argument, and she attempted to take the property back. She then said that [VICTIM ] had pulled her shirt by the collar, where she then got away from him and grabbed two knives from the dishwasher in the kitchen. She said that she then started swinging the knives at him. She also said that while she was swinging the knives, [VICTIM ] was walking backwards, away from her, and got out of the residence where she then locked the door.
While speaking with Centavia, I observed that her shirt was not stretched out in any significance which would suggest that [VICTIM ] was being aggressive towards her. I also observed that Centavia did not have any visible defensive wounds.
I also spoke with [WITNESS ], who said that he saw [VICTIM ] come down the stairs outside of the apartments the first time with several belongings and with a shirt on. He said that he then saw [VICTIM ] come down a second time without a shirt on, and with the knife wound.
Photographs of [VICTIM ]’s injuries were taken on the bodyworn camera of 950. The knives were photographed on the bodyworn camera of 916. Centavia’s shirt was photographed on the bodyworn camera of 952.
Due to the physical injury on [VICTIM ], and both [VICTIM ]’s and Centavia’s statements that suggested a knife was used in the altercation, Centavia was arrest for Aggravated Assault- FVA and transported to The Bartow County Detention Center without incident.
