While speaking with [VICTIM ], she advised that sometime during the night a vehicle had left the roadway and struck her vehicle, which was parked unattended in the driveway, causing extensive inoperable damage.As I begin conducting the crash investigation, there were vehicle parts and debris scattered throughout her driveway, and a front Texas license plate bearing [REDACTED], During this time, there was a male witness on the scene who resided ([20 BLOCK] E Star Street) the property next door, who identified himself as [WITNESS ]. He then stated that at approximately 0340am, he heard a loud noise that caused him to awaken and look out his bedroom window, observing an unknown make-and-model pickup truck attempting to flee the accident scene. As day broke, he met with his neighbors, assessed the damage, including his mailbox and post, and ed law enforcement.A report was created on the scene, both parties were given a case note card, and the license plate was gathered for processing. Later this date, Barrow County E-911 received a second call from [VICTIM ], who informed them that the driver of vehicle had returned to the scene of the accident admitting fault.Deputy Antwune McCurry spoke with [VICTIM ], and the driver was identified as Iris Fuentes Iris via telephone. I then responded to Iris’s address of [100 BLOCK] Marie Court and conducted a field interview, which she provided. During this time, officers ed the vehicle, which displayed the matching Texas license plate to the rear, and it had extensive front end and passenger side damage. While speaking with Iris she verbally admitted fault and stated she was headed back from dropping a friend off during a thunderstorm with low visibility, she hydroplaned, leaving the roadway and collided with a mailbox off the shoulder, and a vehicle in a dirt driveway, and later left the scene of the accident.After the field interview was concluded, Iris was placed under arrest. She was then transported to Barrow County Detention Center and released to jail staff to be processed of State Charges: E023861-Failure to maintain Lane, E023862-Failure to obtain Georgia Driver’s license in 30 days., E023863- Hit Run ( leaving scene of accident ).A follow-up was conducted and [WITNESS ] stated that he declined a report at this time due to him speaking with Iris and coming to a verbal agreement on replacement of mailbox and post.[End of Narrative].
