[VICTIM ] stated she had broken up with her boyfriend, James Ford. [VICTIM ] stated that she and James had been at [200 BLOCK] Covey Road, moving furniture out of the residence. [VICTIM ] stated that while she and James were moving a mattress, she told him to pick up the mattress because there was cat urine on the ground. [VICTIM ] stated James got angry, picked up the mattress, and threw it in the back of the truck. [VICTIM ] stated James came back inside the residence and they began arguing. [VICTIM ] stated James placed her in a choke hold. [VICTIM ] stated that while she was in the choke hold she could not breathe. [VICTIM ] stated that she thought she was going to pass out, and she was “seeing stars.” [VICTIM ] stated while she was in the choke hold, she kicked James’ groin. [VICTIM ] stated James might have scratches from her trying to get away from him. [VICTIM ] stated she was in the choke hold for approximately 15 seconds.James was located in the parking lot of Century Bank downtown. James was read his Miranda Warning. James agreed to speak. James stated [VICTIM ] broke up with him. James stated that he and [VICTIM ] had been at [200 BLOCK] Covey Road moving furniture out of the residence. James stated [VICTIM ] got angry and told him to pick the mattress up because there was cat urine on the floor. James stated he picked up the mattress and put it on the truck. James stated he came back inside the residence and he and [VICTIM ] started arguing. James stated he got in [VICTIM ]’s face. James stated [VICTIM ] slapped him in the face and began hitting him. James stated he placed [VICTIM ] in a choke hold for approximately 8 seconds and didn’t hold pressure for more than 5 seconds. James stated when he let go of [VICTIM ] she fell to the ground for a second.I made with James sister [WITNESS ]. [WITNESS ] stated she was at the residence in the bathroom. [WITNESS ] stated she heard a commotion. [WITNESS ] stated she exited out of the bathroom and observed [VICTIM ] hitting and attacking James. [WITNESS ] stated James bear hugged [VICTIM ] to stop her from hitting him.I observed a small laceration to [VICTIM ]’s chin. [VICTIM ] provided me with a picture, time stamped at 4:1 on 03/04/2025. The picture showed red marks on her neck, consistent with being choked. I did not observe the marks on [VICTIM ]’s neck at the time of .I observed a cut on James chest. The cut was consistent with a scratch mark.I did not observe any markings consistent with [VICTIM ] hitting James.James was placed under arrest for aggravated assault by strangulation-family violence. James was transported to the jail, where he was turned over to jail staff with a completed booking sheet.A warrant was sworn against James for aggravated assault by strangulation-family violence.[End of Narrative].
