On 10/25/2024
at 0811 I, Deputy Tyler Clark, was dispatched to [1600 BLOCK] Paul Aiken Rd in reference to an assault. Paulding Dispatch advised the complainant got into a physical domestic with her husband. Dispatch further advised the complainant stated she had been slashed with a knife. I activated my emergency lights and siren and responded to the scene.
Upon arrival deputies surrounded the . The complainant and victim, Mrs. [VICTIM ], exited a nearby trailer, with visibly bleeding lacerations on her arm and bloodstains on her shirt. Mrs. [VICTIM ] advised she believes her husband, Mr. Jason White, was inside the . Metro EMS was called in to help Mrs. [VICTIM ] and she was escorted away from the for her safety by Deputy Turner. Metro EMS arrived a short while later and assisted Mrs. [VICTIM ].
While on the perimeter of the , I was approached by a neighbor, who identified himself as Mr. [WITNESS ]. Mr. [WITNESS ] advised he was Mr. White’s grandfather and he witnessed the incident. Mr. [WITNESS ] stated he saw Mr. White enter the residence at [1600 BLOCK] and did not see him leave.
While on perimeter, Mr. White exited the from the front door and raised his hands. Deputies held Mr. White at gunpoint due to the nature of the crime and possibility of a weapon. Deputies then issued verbal commands for him to step down and face away from deputies and prone out on the ground. Mr. White complied with commands. I approached Mr. White and placed him in restraints, checked for fit, and double locked them. Mr. White was assisted to his feet and escorted to the front of my vehicle, P-39. Mr. White was ed incident to arrest in front of the dashcam. Mr. White was then placed in the rear of the patrol vehicle.
The residence was taped off with crime scene tape and a crime scene log established. I returned to Mr. [WITNESS ] to get his statement of what happened. Mr. [WITNESS ] advised this morning he heard a noise and exited his (to the left of [1600 BLOCK] Paul Aiken Rd). Mr. [WITNESS ] advised he witnessed his grandson, Mr. Jason White, standing over Mrs. [VICTIM ]. He advised Mrs. [VICTIM ] was on the ground. Mr. [WITNESS ] stated Mr. White was holding a small knife, possibly a folding pocket knife, and he could see that Mrs. [VICTIM ] was visibly wounded. He further stated he saw Mr. White holding Mrs. [VICTIM ]’s arm. Mr. [WITNESS ] stated he asked his grandson what he was doing and Mr. White mumbled in response and backed away. Mr. [WITNESS ] advised Mr. White told him he put the knife in his pocket and he observed him flee to the .
Mr. [WITNESS ] escorted Mrs. [VICTIM ] to the nearby trailer and attempted to assist her with her wounds. He stated he left when Mrs. [VICTIM ] said she was fine and was going to call the police. Mr. [WITNESS ] advised he does not know what started the argument, but stated they had been arguing for the past few weeks and Mrs. [VICTIM ] was staying in the trailer at night. I asked Mr. [WITNESS ] if he would write a statement. Mr. [WITNESS ] advised he has poor penmanship at his age and requested his statement be taken verbally.
I spoke to other deputies on scene who got a statement from Mrs. [VICTIM ]. Mrs. [VICTIM ] stated she had left the trailer this morning to use the bathroom and take a shower in the . Mrs. [VICTIM ] stated she saw her husband, Mr. White in the living room. Mrs. [VICTIM ] expected him to be at work and asked why he was still in the . Mrs. [VICTIM ] stated he responded with, “I don’t have to go to work, I have everything I need.” Mrs. [VICTIM ] advised her husband seemed off and was acting strangely. Mrs. [VICTIM ] went to the master bedroom and locked the door and took a shower. She then left out the side door, but saw that Mr. White had come out the front and was in the yard. Mrs. [VICTIM ] felt unsafe and attempted to flee to Mr. [WITNESS ]’s . Mrs. [VICTIM ] was tackled by Mr. White. Mrs. [VICTIM ] stated Mr. White held her head between his thighs and stood over her. She stated he held her arm and felt him slash at her with a cutting instrument until Mr. [WITNESS ] arrived and Mr. White stopped. Mrs. [VICTIM ] had two visible lacerations on her right forearm. Mrs. [VICTIM ] was treated by Deputy Turner on scene then turned over to Metro EMS.
Mr. White was transported to the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office to speak with Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division. Mr. White was turned over to detectives without incident. I was advised that the Transportation Division would arrive later and take Mr. White to Paulding County Detention Center.
I applied for warrants for Aggravated Assault Family Violence (16-5-21) and Battery Family Violence (16-5-23).
Once Mr. White was in the Paulding County Detention Center I brought his personal property, a ballcap, keys, and his wallet, over to book in. The contents of Mr. White’s wallet were counted in front of myself and Mr. White. Mr. White agreed to the accuracy of the contents and they were then sealed.
