On 07/24/2024
, while on duty and assigned to work the front Lobby/ 501 at The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, this Deputy spoke with Ms. Lynn Ivey, Complainant/ Victim, regarding a report of Damage to Property. Below is a summary of the incident reported to this Deputy.
Ms. Ivey explained that she has been the victim of numerous incidents which involved her neighbor, Ms. Gertrude McCoy, Suspect. Ms. Ivey stated that while she has not been personally attacked, Ms. McCoy has damaged her property and has intentionally attempted to harm her dogs (Pets). Ms. Ivey stated that Ms. McCoy has attempted to run her dog over with a lawn mower but was unsuccessful. However, Ms. McCoy was the suspect when Ms. Ivey’s privacy fence was set on fire and destroyed.
The most recent incident was on 07/23/2024
starting at 7:57AM while Ms. Ivey was on duty as a Law Enforcement Officer and away from her residence. Ms. Ivey stated she has video recordings of Ms. McCoy shooting a rifle, (BB or Pellet) gun at her 8 month old Boxer Puppy. The Puppy was on Ms. Ivey’s property at the time of the incident. Her security cameras captures video, to include audio, of what is suspected to be multiple shots fired from the BB or Pellet gun. Ms. Ivey believes one of the BB’s or Pellets struck her dog, as she stated you can see the dog basically run from the area. The dog did suffer a minor injury, a red raised area on its upper right rear hind leg area. It was photographed by Ms. Ivey and the photos were sent to this Deputy via email. They have been attached to this case report. Ms. Ivey also sent the video footage, but this Deputy could not open the files and view them. She was instructed to save the videos and show them to a Detective who may follow up on this incident.
Ms. Ivey told this Deputy she believes this is a Hate Crime. She stated Ms. McCoy is a Black female and she has video of her claiming to be a part of Black Lives Matter (BLM). Ms. Ivey is a current Law Enforcement Officer and is a White Female. Ms. Ivey claims Ms. McCoy has made derogatory statements towards Law Enforcement and has mentioned BLM.
