HWY 82 W (Dollar General) in reference to a criminal trespass.Prior to my arrival, units had been dispatched to 136 Carlton Dr (Ace Hardware) in reference to a W/M at the business’s dumpster who been asked to leave by staff but continuously returned to the business. At the time, law enforcement had been unable to make with him.Upon my arrival at Dollar General, I made with a W/M who identified himself as Steve Mcconaughy sitting on the side of the building with a half empty beer can cold to the touch (Miller Lite) talking to himself Due to the prior call description of the W/M, I was able to identify Steve to be the same male. While speaking with Steve he stated that he was less coming from Florida making his way to Alabama. Steve stated he was just taking a break from walking. A G.C.I.C check was ran by Lee County 911 who advised Steve’s information could not be found. During this time Steve stood up to leave. I advised Steve he could not leave at this time until I made with Dollar General staff and due to the Sheriff’s Office having several complaints from businesses in the area over the past days (see Cad #2025-13333, #2025-13031 and #2025-12956). Steve then became irate and upset. Due to Steve’s actions, I then attempted to detain Steve in handcuffs where snatched away from me and I had to grab him and take him to the ground.Once I had Steve detained, I then made with Dollar General staff who advised that Steve had been told to leave the business and returned. On today’s date Steve had been in front of the business pacing back and forth making the staff and customer’s uncomfortable.Due to the prior calls and Steve’s actions he was placed under arrest for Disorderly Conduct. Steve was then transported to the Lee County Jail for booking. Jail staff was able to then find Steve’s information to be Steven Nelson Mcconaughy.
