On Thursday, 10/24/2024
, Deputies were dispatched to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Providence Drive in reference to a carjacking that occurred at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Caldwell Drive (see case number 24-170733). Deputies were advised that the victim’s vehicle was a silver 2014 Toyota Camry with a GA tag of [REDACTED].
Shortly after the call, Corporal Timothy Smith / C-12 located the stolen vehicle on Deans Bridge Road at Gordon Highway and requested assistance. Investigator Christopher Brown was in the area and assisted Cpl. Smith in conducting a traffic stop on the vehicle, which pulled into the parking lot of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Gordon Highway. Both Cpl. Smith and Inv. Brown activated the emergency lights on their county issued vehicles prior to the vehicle pulling into a parking space. The vehicle stopped briefly and then the driver (identified as Omarion Steward) accelerated from the parking spot toward Inv. Brown’s county issued vehicle (white 2015 Chevrolet Impala with a GA tag of [REDACTED]), causing the front right side of the Toyota Camry to strike the front right side of Inv. Brown’s vehicle.
